During their tour of Red Heart Orphanage, Shade and the two Bloodkin all expressed different opinions about the orphanage, though overall they were all positive.
Shade had not originally intended to donate more money here. He had planned to donate the money he won that afternoon to the church. But after the tour ended, when Mrs. Lesha invited the three of them to have tea in the dining hall, Shade said he would make an additional donation:
"As individuals, the impact we can have on the world is simply too small. That is why we should do what we can."
"You are truly generous. Please allow me to thank you on behalf of the children."
The four of them chatted pleasantly, but just as the atmosphere became harmonious and cheerful, someone quite rudely barged into the dining hall where the children ate without knocking.
Mrs. Lesha had just been about to reprimand the intruder, but when she turned and saw that it was Mrs. Jude, the kind and beautiful widow of a wealthy merchant who had founded the orphanage, entering in a furious manner, she immediately shut her mouth:
"Good afternoon, Madam. These three gentlemen have come to visit and donate to the orphanage."
She spoke somewhat helplessly, clearly able to see that Mrs. Jude, who never lost her temper here, was obviously not in her right state of mind.
The plump noblewoman looked at the three of them, her nostrils twitching a few times. In the end, she did not immediately voice what was on her mind:
"Good afternoon, kind gentlemen. Lesha, leave first. I need to speak with these three gentlemen."
"Yes, Madam."
