Afterward, everyone discussed their respective plans a little longer. Once they dispersed from the study, Shade sought out Luvia alone to ask about the candidate:
"Things with Mrs. Jude kept me busy these past few days, and I forgot to ask. Is Illustrious Miss a candidate?"
Luvia decisively shook her head:
"Although she is a Dragonborn and has a special talent for light, judging by her demonstrated power, she cannot possibly fit the title 'Newborn Dragon,' can she? I've recently crammed a great deal of knowledge about dragons. Illustrious Miss should at least count as a young dragon, right?"
"It's fine if she isn't."
Shade was not particularly disappointed. He leaned casually against the hallway wall:
"In a few days, I'll arrange for you to meet some people from the New Continent Mutual Aid Society and confirm whether John Flynn, who ranks near the top, is the first choice. This cannot be delayed any longer. I feel the Final Battle could erupt at any moment; it only depends on when those cultists complete their God Summoning ritual."
"I'll follow your lead. In any case, whatever is inside that enormous Dragon Egg cannot become a Chosen One. That is our bottom line. As for everyone else, you can judge for yourself. After all, you understand each of them best."
After saying that, Luvia looked toward the end of the corridor, then smiled and changed the subject:
"Where are you staying tonight? Megan and Audrey have reunited with you after so long. You should be spending the night in their room, shouldn't you?"
"Ah, well..."
"I knew it. You showed up together in the evening, so you definitely did no good during the day."
The Girl with Purple Eyes complained softly, then pursed her lips and said:
"Go back and rest tonight.
