Golden sunlight burst through the white fog amid the wind and snow of the dark night. The overly brilliant radiance even drew Vanessa's attention as she continued grappling with the worm's tail.
The great sword's sweeping force was terrifying. The sound it made upon striking that dazzling golden shield was like the tolling hum of a massive bell. Even so, Shade, who felt sweetness rise in his throat, stood firmly in place and maintained the seal without moving.
The great sword abruptly stopped because of the seal. After golden light scattered in all directions and the two remained deadlocked for a moment, crimson flames lit up beneath the tree roots in the depths of the white fog. The entire great tree was then completely ignited by the "Primordial Fire."
The "corpses" hanging beneath the tree raised their hands and cast spells again, attempting to make the crimson flames disappear as they had driven away the Moon Fire by reversing time just now.
But the power of time reversal had no effect whatsoever on the "Primordial Fire." Or rather, Shade, whose thoughts had nearly become one with Sister Devlin's at that moment, sensed that the First Fire was also igniting the power of time reversal:
"It really can burn anything!"
"She" chuckled softly by his ear, and the great sword deadlocked with Shade was forced to return to defend. Yet as the withered arm withdrew into the fog, Shade clearly saw that more than half of it had already been set ablaze.
The blaze depicted the outline of the Curse-Eroded Great Tree amid the fog, then, through the worm's shrieks, sketched out the form of the two-armed worm. The towering inferno completely reddened the night sky southwest of the city, but the falling snow did not stop because of the fire.
