Doctor Schneider stood with his back to Shade, reaching out to help Priest Augustus suppress the soul's reaction within the Demon Sword. Perhaps he was no match for Priest Augustus in delicate soul manipulation, but when it came to playing with and punishing souls, he was an expert:

While the Doctor and Priest dealt with the Demon Sword, Shade took Dorothy and Luvia out for a while. Of course, he was not planning to continue tracking those swords, much less crazily do anything with the young ladies on this cold Snow Mountain night. Instead, he led them upward, toward the hidden area where Sylvia's High Tower stood.

That tower was located on the ridge of a side peak of Fatumonst Snow Mountain. If Shade had not already possessed the tower key Sylvia had "lent" him, he would not have been able to enter even if he found that area.
