The small boat did not skim along the ground. Instead, as Shade swung the oar, it gradually rose, floating half a meter above the ground and gliding forward through the White Fog. It looked rather similar to the mounts of those Undead Knights from earlier.
After returning to human form, Shade lightly swept the oar again, and the boat accelerated over the tombstones toward the distance.
Though this boat was not as fast as Shade in Silver Wolf form, it was at least far faster than traveling on foot.
"She" softly guided Shade back toward the place where he had separated from the Witches. After rowing forward only a short distance, they saw the traces of battle left on the ground. Undead creatures were absorbed by the wasteland after being defeated, so there were no monster corpses to be seen here. Shade had no idea what the women had encountered, but it did not seem to have been an easy opponent.
The Cat had been let out again. Since it obediently would not run around, Shade was happy to let the keen-scented cat serve as a warning to some extent.
As they continued onward, one or two Corpse Ghouls would occasionally dart out from the darkness on either side and pounce at the boat, but they were all sliced apart by the moonlight Shade swung out. The Corpse Ghouls only became denser and denser, and more and more mutated specimens appeared among them.
Flying or invisibility would not have mattered much, but some Corpse Ghouls had such severe limb mutations that they could still crawl forward even after being cut to pieces. They truly caused Shade no small amount of trouble. Of course, the most disgusting enemies were still the self-destructing Corpse Ghouls. The boat was not afraid of damage,
