As Shade's voice fell, Danist and the cat both looked ahead, but no book flew over.
Only within the river of stars, faint trails of starlight spread another small path before them. Both understood what that meant, and Shade took Danist's hand again, following the path toward the Moon.
Yet no matter how they advanced, the size and distance of the silver moon hanging in the library backdrop did not change. The surrounding bookshelves did not change much either, but Danist, familiar with star charts, could see that the chart was shifting as they moved forward.
Before long, the starry path reached its end, and a sight beyond the bookshelves appeared in the library.
Atop a raised platform with three steps stood an enormous reading stand. Resting on it was a gigantic open book at least five meters wide, taller than Shade himself.
They had approached from the stairs at the front of the platform, so they could not see what the book's front and back covers looked like. The open pages, like every other book in the library, were translucent and colored like the starry sky.
"I can't sense any Whisper Element. Is this it?"
Shade asked softly. Danist shook her head.
"I've never seen it either. Come on, let's go take a look."
The two approached the platform. Only after stepping up the three stairs did they sense the Whisper Element, and they immediately realized that it had been suppressed by all the other books in the library. This was a library left behind by an Ancient God; even the Annals of Time was merely a book here.
Of the two open pages, only the upper half of the left page contained writing. The words were red, and they were written in Delarion Common Language.
