However, with the room's problem resolved and the evil creature defeated, the space beyond the door should no longer have been another room. Shade could even hear unmistakable sounds of fighting from the corridor.
When he reached the door with his sword and opened it, a loud bang rang out. Miss Novare flew straight from the right side of the doorway to the left, only for the quick-eyed Shade to catch her in midair.
She looked to be in terrible condition. Even supported by Shade, she could barely remain standing. The Kerosene Lamp in her hand was nearly broken, with only a faint flame at its center trembling slowly.
Shade looked towards the direction from which the red-haired Bloodkin girl had flown. In the thick, impenetrable darkness stood Miss Coens.
The female hunter had her eyes closed, and her posture was terribly uncoordinated, as though some enormous thing in the darkness behind her were controlling her limbs. The surroundings around her rippled like a phantom, and Shade instinctively sensed that something was unreal.
"She" softly reminded him:
