Mr. Edmund smiled and shook his head.
"And so this Scepter was passed down. That Seer did have some new ability, and this Scepter truly is unique. Only those with royal blood of the current era can make the best use of it. Ordinary casting catalysts enhance Mystic Incantation in specific areas, but this Scepter can amplify powers related to order and Chaos."
Then he pointed to the top of the staff, where something ought to have been.
"The missing piece here was not hidden away by me. That Seer never set any gemstone in it to begin with. That is another special feature of this Scepter. Most minerals with elemental properties or artificial gemstones can be mounted here, giving this staff another direction in which it can enhance Mystic Incantation when used as a casting catalyst.
"So you can find a suitable gemstone for Her Royal Highness the Princess yourself and set it in place. That would also show your sincerity. I do not know what your relationship with that Princess is, but this gift is certainly suitable."
This staff was indeed well suited to Angelina; even its size was just right. Aside from Emilia, who had the "Tree Staff," the only person around Shade who often used a staff was Sivie. The Great Witch of Light had once explained the classifications of short staffs, long staffs, and so on to Shade.
