As for the remaining four brightly colored murals on the walls that did not change upon approach, they all depicted stories of Ancient Gods from ancient legends—

A beggar sat on the street, tossing dice and watching passersby; a blind girl with closed eyes stood alone on a snowy mountain cliff, playing music toward the snow mountain; a youth placed an ice flower beside his lover's sickbed; and finally, a group of figures gathered around a Stone Table, seemingly playing cards.

The mural of "the blind girl playing" seemed to be overlaid with another image, though that second image had not yet fully taken shape.

The first three murals probably had not been altered by the snake. Rather, the temple itself had been waiting for new stories to replace the old ones. Unfortunately, changes in the murals offered no reward to those who caused them, but if the temple continued to exist, the candidates could judge from the murals' colors whether signs of new stories had appeared.

Shade stared at the cemetery mural for a long while before looking away. People from The Church and the Seer Association were recording these murals. Some used Thaumaturgy to do so, while others copied them by hand, since no one knew whether recording these strange murals through different methods might produce different effects.

The Witch Followers were naturally doing the same. Just as Shade was reflecting on this, President Lenormand came over again:

"Little Beren has already been sent down to the Foot of the Mountain. It would be best if she did not remain here. Though she looks perfectly normal now, even if later examinations reveal no problem, she will probably be unable to live an ordinary person's life."

He meant that The Church would not allow someone "returned from the dead"
