Then energy, information, destiny—everything was transformed into power and absorbed by the rapidly spinning Destiny Ring behind Shade.
The Snake did not continue fighting the Witches and Ring Arcanists, instead watching him quietly. It knew that this process could no longer be stopped. The Serpent of Doomsday from the First Epoch understood better than any mortal currently watching Shade what he was doing.
Golden Miracle, Silver Blasphemy, Brass Enlightenment, Black Iron Whisper—the Four-Colored Spirit Runes formed a quadrilateral around the advancing Shade and Ellie, gradually contracting inward. Ellie even curiously tried to touch those phantoms with her right hand, but after being glanced at by Chloe's phantom, she shrank back and dared not move recklessly again.
