President Lenormand gestured for Shade to sit. A fire burned in the reception room, while blue skies and white clouds lay beyond the window. Compared to the day Shade had been invited to the island, not only was the weather much better today, but President Lenormand was in a far better mood as well:

Shade repeatedly shook his head.

President Lenormand became even more pleased with Shade.

"Duchess Galina said that once matters here were over, you were to return to Tobesk immediately. The island is no longer safe, so Mr. Hamilton, I apologize for not leaving you time for a vacation. May we send you back shortly?"

"Of course. I think I will have opportunities to come here again in the future. The Fatu People's town left a deep impression on me, and the scenery of the City of Time Wheels was quite lovely as well."

President Lenormand then accepted a suitcase from another diviner who had accompanied him.
