This volume was a pivotal one in the latter half of the book. The appearance of the Snake let everyone learn what Doomsday truly was. More importantly, it allowed Shade to learn part of the truth about the spring of Year 1853 and obtain the High-Ring Words of Sublimation. The greatest secret will gradually unfold from here, until it is fully revealed at the end.
At present, all the clues are progressing in an orderly fashion. Whether it is Murmuring Chapters and the Chosen Ones, which form the main plot, the Outlander's story hidden beneath that main plot, or the side stories of the Doctor, Priest, Nun, and others, all are entering their concluding stages. Of course, the stories of Shade's ordinary friends are also advancing alongside the main plot.
