The "Kalas Mountain" that Shade and Daniste had set out for was not particularly tall. It stood on a peninsula in the north of the Old Continent, surrounded by no major cities, and was part of the rolling Walter Mountain Range.

Daniste's travel plan was simple. They would take a train west from Tobesk at ten in the morning, arrive at the transportation hub west of Tobesk—Crossroads Town, Kovos Town—at noon.

After lunch, they would take off from the fields. They would need to avoid the detection rituals above major cities and slow down to avoid triggering rituals meant to detect wild dragons, but they should reach the mountain foot of Kalas Mountain by Monday evening.

The plan went smoothly. Although the train was half an hour late, it did not delay their lunch.
