Shade said, but he was not worried about it for the moment:

"We're all staying in Tobesk. Our greatest connection to the war will probably be reading about it in the newspapers. The ones who truly need to worry are the Correspondence Students in the war zones, aren't they?"

"For students living in war zones, the Academy has issued special provisions allowing them to take certain actions normally prohibited in order to protect themselves, their relatives, and their property."

The Doctor said, glancing out the window:

"In any case, everyone should cherish this brief period of peace that is about to end. The coming Civil War may not destroy the world, but much of the old order will likely change."

Though the Doctor spoke with such feeling, he had no particular opinion on the war either. He merely saw it as a change in the backdrop of daily life. After all, in his view, Demons were what mattered most.

Priest Augustus was more concerned with the war's impact on ordinary people's lives. Whether the deaths brought by war would accelerate the spread of the "Calamity of Death"—that is, lead to more appearances of the "Edge of Life and Death"—was also something the old priest worried about.
