Those "surviving" Bloodkin were still imprisoned in the Underground Cemetery. Mr. Bernhardt did not bring anyone else, choosing instead to follow Shade there alone.
The two left through the cave exit and arrived at the abandoned farmstead in the Desolate Zone. Wei Ge had transformed the farmstead into the Witches' stronghold outside the city, and Sylvia had stabilized the Teleportation Gate she and Dorothy had built to connect to the cemetery there.
Crossing the Teleportation Gate brought them to the cemetery's second level. More than twenty girls were currently active in the cemetery, and after Sunday's battle, the power of the Sun and the power of life had seeped out from the Sea of Origin together. Thus, the place lacked the usual chill of a cemetery and even felt more comfortable than the basement of an ordinary house.
