After a brief standoff, all three moved at once. This time, after taking an unknown potion, the Fifth-Ring Arcanist from The Truth Society actually used his Destiny Ring to summon a three-headed hound, a Corpse Ghoul, a Treant, and an ugly old witch in a hat.
This method of using individual Spirit Runes for separate summons naturally could not compare to Leisha and Dorothy's linked five-Spirit-Rune summoning. But numbers could somewhat make up for the gap in quality. The three-headed hound and Treant went after Shade, while the other two targeted Iluna.
Shade kissed the Moonstone Ring on his finger. Steam mist surged up behind him, revealing a corner of the Third Ring Arcanist's Destiny Ring. The Miracle Spirit Rune, Yellow Moon, gleamed:
"Confusion!"
The ring flashed with bright yellow moonlight as Shade extended it forward. Bathed in that somewhat faint light, the ugly three-headed hound and the Treant, twisted like a distorted human body, actually stopped before attacking each other.
"This Thaumaturgy is that useful?"
Shade looked at the ring on his finger. The Fifth-Ring Arcanist noticed what was happening on Shade's side as well. Rather than summon more creatures, he charged at Shade with his greatsword in hand.
Perhaps seeing that Shade was only at the Third Ring, he was confident in his physical strength. He merely used the power of the Whisper Spirit Rune to enhance himself before swinging his sword directly at Shade.
Clang!
"What?"
Silver moonlight scattered everywhere as the greatsword wielded by the unfamiliar Ring Arcanist struck the black iron chains gripped in both of Shade's hands. They were the Great Sin Chains. They had no offensive power, but unlike the Moonbeam Greatsword, which had shattered many times, the Great Sin Chains had never once broken.
The sword could not cut through the chains,
