Miss Danist and Shade talked about many things, so it was not until half past ten that Shade ended the projection and returned to the guest room at Miss Galina's manor.

The little orange cat sprawled on the soft bed had long since grown impatient. Meowing, she jumped onto the carpet. Shade bent down and picked her up, originally thinking Mia wanted to play for a while, but then realizing that the cat most likely wanted a late night snack.

The Outlander had heard terrifying tales about orange cats' weight in both his hometown and this world, so he had always been restrained when feeding her. But ever since he adopted this cat in the summer, there had been almost no noticeable change in either her weight or shape. Sometimes, Shade envied Mia's physique, which never gained weight no matter what she ate. Then he remembered that even he, whom Gluttony could not affect, did not gain weight no matter what he ate.

He pushed open the door and left the room, intending to prepare some late night snack and see whether Leisha and Miss Galina had finished discussing their affairs. Just as he followed a maid around the corner of the corridor, he saw Leisha approaching with a group of maids, Tifa leading the way.

It was already rather late. Miss Galina still had to enter the city tomorrow morning to hear reports at the Council, and for the sake of her skin, she ought to rest as well. The witch had gone to bathe, while Tifa led Leisha to see Shade.

Only then did Leisha learn that Shade's so-called guest room was right beside the witch's large bedroom.

She stared at the detective holding the cat for quite a while, then gave a soft snort without saying anything.
