This Saturday was also an important day for Doctor Schneider. Tonight, the Yellow Moon was full in March, making it the "Day of Yellow Moon's Radiance," the day the doctor had long scheduled for his advancement from the fifth ring to the sixth. Since Dorothy had suspended this week's lessons, Shade stayed at the doctor's clinic to help him conduct the advancement ritual.
Compared to Dorothy's advancement from the fourth ring to the fifth, which required linking together the Words of Sublimation, Doctor Schneider's advancement from the fifth ring to the sixth seemed rather simple.
In the attic of the doctor's clinic, as the Yellow Moon's light shone through the attic window onto the circular Ritual Matrix painted on the floor in blood, the three overlapping isosceles triangles within the circle emitted red, blue, and green light respectively. Between those geometric patterns, demon runes alternated with contemporary universal ritual runes.
There were no clouds tonight, and the moonlight was remarkably steady. On the outer circle of the nested double rings, the illuminated runes flickered with glimmer at a peculiar frequency.
With Shade's help, Doctor Schneider was hung upside down by one foot above the glowing ritual on the floor. His eyes were tightly shut, while his wrists and ankles each bore three, five, seven, and nine silver bracelets.
At 7:23 p.m., Shade, standing by the door in a black robe, immediately shook the handbell in his hand. Amid a droning hum that seemed to resonate within one's skull, Doctor Schneider bit through his tongue, and the Destiny Ring behind him appeared.
The yellow moonlight of Confusion passed through the Destiny Ring, causing its shadow to align perfectly with the nested double rings on the floor. Strange black matter poured from the upside-down doctor's body, wrapping around him like a cocoon.
