Background / History
Xia Hong was born into a martial-arts family and practiced martial arts from childhood. Orphaned young, he continued training for fitness until being diagnosed with ALS. When his mobility was failing, he ended his life and transmigrated into the body of the sixteen-year-old Xia Hong in the Endless Winter world. 1
His new body was exceptionally suited to combat, but he initially possessed only about two thousand jin of strength. Within a month, he used Ancestral Long Fist and Frost Beast flesh and blood to reach roughly four thousand jin, approaching the Lumbering Realm. 1
During the crisis involving two apparent versions of his father, Xia Ding, Xia Hong coordinated with Xia Chuan to attack both suspects. His axe split one of the false Xia Dings' heads, exposing the danger facing the camp. 4
After Xia Ding's death, Xia Hong took responsibility for Great Xia Camp. He rebuilt its lumber team, organized cultivation, secured food and firewood, and established himself as the camp's recognized Leader. 11 21 22
Appearance
Xia Hong is a tall, sturdy youth whose delicate face contrasts with his powerful build. At just over sixteen, he stands approximately 1.91 meters tall and weighs over ninety kilograms. 1
- Narrow waist and unusually long, ape-like arms. 1
- Strong enough to lift five-thousand-jin stakes upon reaching the Lumbering Realm. 8
- Often wears beast-skin clothing during cultivation and expeditions. 14
- Carries stone axes and other practical survival gear when leaving camp. 9
Personality
Xia Hong is pragmatic, composed, and intensely driven by survival. Having received a healthy second life after ALS, he accepts the dangers of Endless Winter rather than despairing over them. 1
He is cautious around Frost Beasts and Grotesques, repeatedly observing opponents before acting and changing plans when new information appears. He recognizes that recklessness and naïveté can get his companions killed. 11 13 20
As a leader, Xia Hong values collective strength over personal gain. He believes a camp must grow beyond merely surviving, giving its members the chance to live with dignity and protect those important to them. 28 29
Abilities & Skills
Ancestral Long Fist
Xia Hong mastered Ancestral Long Fist in his previous life and teaches adapted versions of it to Great Xia Camp's survivors. The art can be used bare-handed or adapted for weapons. 15
- Small Battle — close-range defensive form suited to robust fighters. 15
- Great Battle — offensive form combining fists, legs, and body movement to break through a single point. 15
- Scattered Hands — unrestricted killing style using the entire body as a weapon. 15
- Combined Battle — group-combat form for coordinated attacks. 15
- Adapted training based on physique, assigning different styles to Yuan Cheng, Yue Feng, Lin Kai, Qiu Peng, Xu Ning, and Lu Yang. 15
Frost Beast Cultivation
Xia Hong cultivates by consuming Frost Beast flesh and blood, then practicing Long Fist to release and absorb its energy. 8 14
- Consumed five jin of Frost Beast meat per day before reaching the Lumbering Realm. 8
- His capacity increased to seven jin per day after his breakthrough, though his rate of improvement slowed. 14
- Overconsumption of Frost Beast flesh can be fatal. 8
- He concluded that life-and-death combat can help push past physical limits when ordinary cultivation stalls. 37
Hunting and Combat Tactics
Xia Hong combines observation, traps, terrain, and teamwork rather than relying solely on brute force.
- Identified that Snow Manes can feign death and approached an apparently defeated beast with caution. 20
- Exploited the Snow Mane's vulnerable tongue after learning that its hide could resist axes and sabers. 20 21
- Used a Small Torch to draw Frost Beasts into conflict, then harvested the aftermath. 12 19 21
- Directed Xia Chuan and Yuan Cheng from cover while engaging an injured adult Snow Mane, ultimately killing it with their support. 20 21
- Led the group that restrained the Golden-Eyed Demonic Sheep, then killed it by piercing the golden eye on its back. 35
Leadership and Resource Management
Xia Hong reorganizes Great Xia Camp around training, specialized labor, and controlled distribution of scarce resources.
- Formed a core group through a competition, then provided its strongest candidates with Frost Beast meat and martial instruction. 14
- Established a meat allocation system: 30% to hunters, 50% to Lumbering Realm reserves, 20% to qualified young camp members, with remaining odd pounds shared across the camp. 21
- Argued that the camp should increase its number of Lumbering Realm cultivators rather than concentrate all resources in a few individuals. 28 29
- Planned for specialized hunting, lumbering, fruit-picking, and scouting teams as Great Xia's numbers grew. 28
