An Invitation from a Kindhearted Person
The visitor's accent revealed his identity, and only then did the young man with the white skin raise his head and look at the visitor.
His attire was very ordinary: long trousers and a brown short-sleeved shirt, looking rather casual.
He had none of the characteristics of Gefra or a local; he was, as his accent suggested, a Bayer People, or at least a foreigner.
"I don't know you, sir." The young man with the white skin didn't let the guy in immediately. Besides him, there were two young girls in the house, and if this guy wasn't a good person, he wouldn't be able to protect them.
You see, the Gefra people don't really trust him now, and the locals hate him to death. Except for a few people, almost everyone hates him.
People would come to him anytime, anywhere, wanting to kill him in order to gain some prestige; this had happened more than once.
After a moment of eye contact, the visitor outside handed over a note. "It seems you're quite wary, but that's alright. I'm just here to get you to make this call..."
The young man took the slip of paper and glanced at it. It had out-of-town phone numbers, but they all belonged to the Amelia Region.
After the Amelia Region was marked by Gefra, the governor immediately ordered the destruction of all communication lines connecting to other places. Radio and similar devices were also brought under control. Now, telephones in the Amelia Region can only make calls within the region.
"I don't understand, sir..." The young man with the white skin had memorized the number, but he made the gesture of returning the note to the visitor, fearing it might be some kind of test.
Despite his current familiarity with the Patrol Team and his acquaintance with various people, the arrogance of the Gefra people makes them hesitant to trust anyone. He has experienced what he considers tests at least four or five times.
This might be yet another time, this time they've sent a foreigner who's different from the locals, unlike Gefra.
The visitor didn't take the note; he just looked at the young man with the white dog and said, "Someone asked me to pass on a message to you..."
"Darkness may obscure our path, but stars will guide us. The night will eventually pass, and dawn will always come, as long as we hold onto hope!"
The visitor himself seemed somewhat moved. He didn't speak immediately after he finished speaking, and both of them seemed to be feeling the power in his words.
After a while, the visitor finally spoke, "This call will be held for you for three days, anytime, but after three days it will be permanently invalid. You only have three days to make a decision."
"Well then... I should take my leave, sir!"
The visitor's ambiguous smile startled the young man with the white skin. By the time he wanted to say something more, the visitor had already moved a distance away.
Not many people knew his identity. His expression became somewhat solemn. If this was also a test, then it meant that there was a traitor in his Resistance Organization!
Back in his room, he comforted the two girls, then went back to his bedroom and couldn't fall asleep. What if he was wrong? He might hurt other people's feelings. But what if it really was true...
Besides all that, there's also the question of what this phone call really means, who's waiting for him, what will happen if he calls, what will happen if he doesn't, and who's on the other end...?
The numerous problems kept him from falling asleep until almost dawn, and he wasn't as active at work as usual during the day. He had a vague feeling that this phone call was very important, but he couldn't make up his mind for the time being.
He had spent a lot of time lying in wait here, and even sacrificed some people. He didn't know what to choose.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye. The young man with the white skin, who was exhausted when he returned home that night, did not eat immediately, but instead locked himself in his room.
Over three days, without any unexpected tests, he became suspicious and paranoid. At that moment, he seemed to have made up his mind.
Even if his secret were discovered, he would only take it to his grave, but if it were truly an opportunity, he couldn't let it slip by.
He dialed the number using the phone in his bedroom. Some time ago, he would receive calls in the middle of the night asking him, someone familiar with the area, to lead soldiers to arrest the Resistance Organization. He still hadn't moved the phone.
The phone rang seven or eight times. Just as he was about to hang up, feeling a mix of disappointment, despair, and relief, the call was connected on the other end.
"I thought you wouldn't call me..." It's a very standard, Common Language that anyone can understand immediately.
The young man with the white dog didn't speak immediately. He analyzed the characteristics of the voice. It was young, and although the tone of voice was very calm, it hid a sense of control, confidence, arrogance, and pride.
A dozen seconds later, the white-skinned young man asked, "Who are you?"
"Who I am is not important, what's important is that I'm here to help you..."
The young man with the white skin immediately interrupted the other voice on the phone, "You can't help me, you can't help us, you can't help anyone, you have no idea what we need!"
"No, I don't know!" The young man on the other end of the phone seemed completely unconcerned that his words had been interrupted by the white-skinned young man, and even had a faint smile in his tone. "Money, weapons, supplies, medicine, all kinds of consumables, except for the people you need to prepare yourself, I can provide you with everything!"
The voice and what he said were so exaggerated that even the young man from the white dog wondered if he had encountered a madman.
Since the change of sovereignty in Li Ya, some Resistance Organization have emerged in the region. The governor subsequently ordered a complete ban on guns throughout the Amelia Region, destroying all civilian firearms and gun workshops.
Anyone found illegally possessing firearms will be punished, with the most severe punishment being being dried into Human Jerky. Reports of such acts will also be accepted.
If the report is successful, the whistleblower will not only receive the wealth of the reported party, but will also be credited with merit, which will improve the whistleblower's social status in the Amelia Region.
One of the most significant benefits is that, regardless of how many merit points a family earns, the Family Head of the household will be granted the status of a first-class citizen of Gefra, and his family members will be able to leave the Amelia Region and go to Gefra to receive a higher education and enjoy a more peaceful social environment.
This has led to a situation where there are not many usable guns and ammunition in the entire Amelia Region, and many Resistance Organization only have a few guns.
Not everyone wants to oppose the current rulers; many dream of becoming first-class citizens of Gefra and then traveling to one of the most powerful nations in the world to become superior beings.
So when the young voice on the phone said those things, the white-skinned young man didn't know how to refute them for a moment.
This is also the predicament faced by all the rebels in the Amelia Region now. They have no weapons to resist the tyranny of Gefra... Actually, it can't be called tyranny. In fact, life in the current ruling area is even better than before. It's just that it's hard to accept emotionally.
At the same time, they could not obtain assistance from their homeland. The Defeated Country knew about these Resistance Organization, but their policy was not to support, oppose, or approach them.
A hasty approach could escalate the conflict and reignite the war. Rather than accumulating strength and developing quietly, waiting to reclaim the Amelia Region in one fell swoop, endless entanglement now would be foolish.
As for those Resistance Organization... it would be better if they were all dead; they're all a bunch of brainless idiots.
The Resistance Organization's isolation and lack of support prevented them from obtaining supplies. Once they began a large-scale rebellion against Gefra's rule, simply restricting the free trade of goods such as medicine and food would be enough to drive the Resistance Organization to its demise.
What's more, they lack supplies, which is the most fatal thing. On the contrary, they have no shortage of people, which are consumables.
The offer on the other end of the phone was irresistible, and the young man with the white skin quickened his breathing. His purpose in joining the Patrol Team was to find a way to break into Gefra's armory, but now he seemed to have a better option.
He suppressed the pounding in his heart and lowered his voice, "What do you want from me?" he said, adding, "I want to hear the truth. Those hypocritical words are disgusting. I want to know what you want from us, or what benefits you have in doing this."
This is a perfectly normal thought. The other side provided so many scarce supplies and money. These things are valuable, not just trash that can be found anywhere. The other side has given so much. If it's just "supporting the resistance movement," then it's absolutely a joke.
Even their homeland had abandoned them. How could a Federal citizen or a foreigner possibly help them resist Gefra, who had absolutely no connection to the Federal? The young white dog thought there might be some trap involved, and he needed to find out the details before considering whether to continue the talks.
However, his wariness and vigilance quickly turned into confusion, because he couldn't figure out whether the other party was telling him his real purpose or just going in circles.
"I will not ask for any returns that have a direct interest in you. My only request is to make the Gefra people unhappy. At the same time, my funding is by no means without conditions."
"I will first prepare two hundred guns and related ammunition produced in Gefra, as well as explosives, some scarce medicines and some money for you. What you need to do is to blow up the two Copper Mine in the xx region."
"Our assistance will be similar in the future. If you complete the tasks I assign you, you will receive new assistance. If you fail to complete them, there will be no assistance."
"That's fair, isn't it? At least now you get what I just said, as well as my sincerity, for free!"
