Olivia
The Iron Dragon Wing Palace remained eerily silent at night, devoid of any sign of life. Under the powerful dragon's might, even the chirping of insects was barely audible.
Even though the Red Dragon has long since awakened and there will no longer be any unintentional natural disasters, its retinue still dares not approach this sacred dwelling.
"It's the same time again."
This should be the sixty-seventh night.
Olivia slowly opened her eyes, and moonlight flooded into her blue-gray pupils, shining on her smooth scales. The ground reflected many points of light, like a handful of glittering Silver Coin scattered on it.
Two months is an exceptionally short time for any dragon, but for the Silver Dragon trapped in the Dragon Binding Array, this short timeline seemed to be stretched infinitely, and every minute and every second was agonizing.
The scorching chains greedily drained her Life Force, constantly Ground Spike and making it difficult for her to fall asleep.
The Silver Dragon slightly flapped its wings, and with a soft sound, the bright, plate-like Wing Membrane reflected the moonlight. The heavy chains sensed the disturbance and continued to burn her body.
But she just gritted her teeth and let out a barely perceptible groan.
"Um"
Olivia endured the excruciating pain and struggled to turn over.
However, this was not the end of it; the Silver Dragon struggled to raise its head.
The heavy chains were tightly wrapped around her slender neck, constantly flashing with scorching magical light, and even emitting a "sizzling" sound, causing wisps of white smoke to rise from her flesh and leaving streaks of blood.
Finally, she gritted her teeth, raised her head, and looked up at the Ming Yue in the night sky, enjoying the rare moonlight.
This can be considered finding joy amidst hardship.
She had long since grown accustomed to this life, which could be described as utterly hopeless.
She grew accustomed to the occasional Wyvern flying overhead, to the indifference and vigilance of the Tiefling Guard, and to the unbearable heat inside the palace.
She also tried to send messages to the outside world, communicate with the Wyvern, and communicate with the Tiefling Guards, hoping to win over these servants of the Embers of the Burned King, but all her attempts ended in failure. The Red Dragon's rule here was terrifyingly secure.
Despite being in this silent Hell forged of steel, the Silver Dragon's blue-gray eyes still revealed a faint glimmer of determination.
She was still quietly waiting for something.
Anher
"He will come to save me someday; he made a promise to me."
Olivia thought to herself.
In the story of "The Scale of Promise" told by his father, the Silver Dragon Decker Strelov waited at the cave entrance for a full thousand years, from Young Dragon all the way to becoming Ancient Dragon. In the end, his faithful love moved the Platinum Dragon God Bahamut.
The god used his great power to revive the female dragon, allowing him to reunite with his mate.
And the Embers of the Burned King is not someone who can be defeated overnight. Olivia is prepared to be trapped here for hundreds, or even thousands of years.
Despite the immense power of the Red Dragon, which was almost invincible, she remained steadfast in her belief that the mysterious and righteous Golden Dragon could save her from this hellish place.
Furthermore, Olivia swore an oath never to submit to the Embers of the Burned King, even if it meant enduring inhuman torture and risking death.
"It's so boring here..."
"I wish he could visit me more often."
Olivia couldn't help but grin foolishly, and the pain she was in seemed insignificant.
She recalled that equally tranquil night when Angel, the Golden Dragon Anher, risked his life to enter the palace, sincerely apologized to her, made a heartfelt promise, and engaged in intimate conversation with her during their brief time together.
Those sincere and earnest words still echoed in her mind, lingering for a long time.
"Olivia, my strength is insufficient to Contend Against this Red Dragon right now; he is far too powerful. Perhaps... I need more resources."
"Money, Spell Scroll, and even aid from other Metallic Dragon..."
"But no matter what, even if it costs me everything and all my treasures, I will rescue you from here. This is my promise to you."
She would never forget the sense of relief that came from finding a glimmer of hope in despair, the feeling of grasping at the last straw, and the thrill of being moved by a promise.
However, Olivia knew in her heart that the so-called "visit" was just her unrealistic fantasy.
She was now in the palace of the Embers of the Burned King, not some casual guesthouse where anyone could come and go as they pleased. Every time the Golden Dragon broke in, it faced a great risk, and if it was discovered, it would be certain death.
Olivia has always considered herself a rational researcher of magic, believing that she was born to study the essence of the world. She even put aside her dragon pride and found a legendary mage as her mentor.
She never imagined she would experience such a dramatic and adventurous journey, or find a fairytale-like love, but everything happened naturally, even though the process was somewhat bumpy and painful.
"How much longer must we wait here?"
"Anher, don't let me down..."
Olivia even imagined what it would be like to be rescued in the future.
She believed that it must have been the most beautiful moment in the world, even surpassing any memory in her hundred-year life.
"We will study magic together, build a beautiful and cozy Mage Tower, and have our own territory and city. At that time, the Mellward Family will also be our strong support."
"We will travel through the multiverse, following in the footsteps of His Bahamut Your Majesty, flying alongside the benevolent Celestial Being in the Mount Paradise."
"We will roam freely in the Elysium, befriend the Aasimar and the powerful Lammasu, and let the waters of the Oceanus River Purification our souls."
"We will adventure in the Ysgard, and witness the eternal battlefields and glorious heroes."
"We will wander through the Mechanus, studying the most perfect and flawless order."
Countless beautiful and imaginative images flashed through Olivia's mind, like a continuous comic strip or a revolving lantern, a concrete depiction of her aspirations.
Even the relentless, excruciating pain couldn't stop her from falling into a deep sleep and enjoying this moment of peace.
She has been waiting here, lucid and alert, for months.
She was so tired.
Silver Dragon slowly closed her eyes. Her slender and graceful dragon body was covered in wounds, but a serene smile still lingered on her lips, perhaps she was immersed in a beautiful dream.
But Olivia, fast asleep, didn't notice—
A foul-smelling black energy floated above her head, greedily sucking up light and scattered thoughts.
