A Newbie's Day (1)
Lonely as Snow felt a sudden light before his eyes, and a bustling, prosperous city appeared before him, surrounded by hundreds of newbie players dressed in the same beginner uniforms as him.
"It feels so real..."
"There are so many people."
"Is this North Wind Fortress?"
"This city is so beautiful, scenery lovers will adore it."
As Lonely as Snow looked around, she felt something was strange. The buildings were clearly in a medieval style, yet thick smoke was rising in the distance, and five- or six-story office buildings were mixed in with the classical European-style buildings.
Even the Tiefling Guard were carrying magic rifles, but they wore the most orthodox armor, giving them a steampunk style.
Wyvern through the sky, while Ogre and Hobgoblin walked carelessly through the streets, seemingly oblivious to the humans around them. This scene appeared bizarre and surreal to many new players.
"Holy crap, something's weird!"
"What's it called? It's a specialty of North Wind Fortress."
Lonely as Snow muttered softly, "This is the North Wind Fortress that S Da mentioned, the best starting point for newbies. According to the guide, you need to earn Faction Contribution first, and then exchange them for Dragon Blood Potion to start the game. The most cost-effective job for newbies seems to be miner."
He looked at the plaza in front of him, which was already packed with new players.
Of the 50,000 players, nearly 20,000 chose to start in North Wind Fortress Keep, causing the city's population to increase by almost half, and even traffic became congested.
The square was covered with various advertisements, and people were shouting through megaphones.
"The guild is recruiting new players. Players must be online for eight hours a day. Those who are hardworking and can endure hardship will be given priority."
"No. 3 Weapon Manufacturing Factory is recruiting workers. The daily wage is 100 Faction Contribution."
"Newcomer Training Program! To train a qualified Paladin tank."
"Beginner set on sale! Only 100 copper coins!"
"The new guild ' Keosius's Dogs ' is recruiting! XP will bring together like-minded friends!"
"Praise be to Omnissiah! The prestigious guild [Church of the Machine God] is recruiting highly qualified personnel with top-tier benefits. Those with higher education will be given priority."
"Our guild is in dire need of talent in the fields of biology and genetics. Those who have research achievements or have published SCI papers in this area can directly enter the upper echelons of the guild and be granted the position of [Gene Master], enjoying the highest level of benefits."
"Peerless Royal Authority! The top-tier clan [Royal Authority] is recruiting new members. Professional gamers are given priority, as are those with experience in boxing, kickboxing, or similar sports in real life."
Lonely as Snow was dazzled by the spectacle, stroking her chin and muttering to herself, "These people are so greedy even when playing a game, are they even letting ordinary players have a chance?"
"Tsk tsk, as expected of a wealthy family."
He has no intention of joining a guild.
According to the guide from that "S Da", apart from a few top-tier guilds, the help that guilds can offer to ordinary players is negligible. In fact, many guilds are just using the guise of training new players to Leeks newbies. And the requirements of those top-tier guilds are beyond the reach of ordinary players like him.
Lonely as Snow was very self-aware. Apart from being a bit handsome, he was just average in other aspects, and his skills were at best average.
He continued walking with the flow of people and finally saw the place he was looking for—
There sat a fierce-looking Hobgoblin, looking impatient, with a wooden signboard in front of him.
"The Bottomless Mine is short of fifty miners, and twenty copper coins a day."
"This should be the place."
Lonely as Snow, muttered.
He was about to go up and ask when someone behind him pulled him back.
"Dude, are you here to play the game or to be played by the game? Are you really going to become a slave in a mine?"
Lonely as Snow turned her head and saw another newbie player, also dressed in beginner's clothes, with the shining nickname "Lucky Emperor" above his head.
Lonely as Snow said, "Mining is the most cost-effective job in the early stages, according to S Da's strategy guide."
"S Da? Xin Gou!"
The Lucky Emperor's eyes widened.
"You actually believe that kind of birth story! It's just something to fool newbies like you."
Lonely as Snow didn't refute, but asked in confusion, "Aren't you also a level one newbie?"
With his arms crossed, the Lucky Emperor confidently said, "I have inside information. My buddy is a Internal Beta, and I've figured out all the tricks of this game."
"So, tell me if you trust me or not? Let's be friends."
Lonely as Snow hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded.
The player in front of me, who claims to have "insider information," may seem unreliable, but at least he's quite kind-hearted, so making friends with him wouldn't be a bad idea.
The Lucky Emperor led him directly to the place where the most players were gathered. There were almost a hundred people crammed together, including many high-level veteran players. They were all flushed and looked crazy, muttering things like "I'm going to get a good item" and "Buddha bless me," which made Lonely as Snow quite curious.
The Lucky Emperor pointed into the distance and said triumphantly, "This is it."
Lonely as Snow looked in the direction he was pointing and saw a rather large shop with a sign that read "House of Dragon's Blessing," inside which were piled thousands of beautifully decorated metal boxes.
"Keosius's Secret Treasure?"
Lonely as Snow couldn't help but frown, her suspicions about this Lucky Emperor growing even stronger.
He had seen this event in a guide on Singo, which the guide expert described as a "combination harvester Leeks(a metaphor for exploiting inexperienced investors)," a "fire pit that fools love to jump into," and a "poor man's creation box," giving it almost the lowest rating.
Singo even added this line to the guide, "Instead of using Gold Coin to open chests, you might as well just send me money, that way you won't get addicted."
"You know about this event too?"
The Lucky Emperor was visibly excited, almost dancing with joy.
"This is a treasure event! It's said to be a special event only available at the server launch. If you're not quick enough, it'll be gone. Many newbies don't even know about it."
"Isn't this thing supposed to be incredibly black? S Da even mentioned it specifically."
Lonely as Snow, said silently.
"Why do you care about Xin Gou? Everything he says is bullshit. He even said before that Faction Contribution are useless!"
The Lucky Emperor shook his head repeatedly, looking like he knew everything. "You don't know this, do you? This is the launch phase!"
"Think about it, even if the official team is stingy, would they use low drop rates to drive away new players? This event is definitely a pure benefit for new players! They give you a sweet treat first, then hit you hard. This Keosius's Secret Treasure is that sweet treat!"
What evidence do you have?
"It's inside information, you know what I mean? I'm telling you the whole truth! If you don't believe me, just watch me get my perks later, or you'll regret it."
"I'm so lucky Lucky Emperor said, his words still brimming with confidence.
