Okaglar Battle (I)
However, the kingdom's army was not to be outdone.
Wyvern roared noisily in mid-air, while Hobgoblin and Ogre roared wildly. The sound was deafening, and the entire snowfield seemed to boil over.
"For the Embers of the Burned Kingdom!"
"For the Embers of the Burned King!"
"I will tear you all to pieces!"
"Conquer the Northern Lands! For the blueprint of the Great Red Dragon!"
Such battle cries echoed continuously across the wasteland.
The Alliance spared no effort, with a total of 90,000 elite human troops from various the North countries, more than 5,000 Starfallers, and thousands of extraordinary beings from all over Erezege gathered here.
The alliance announced that they had assembled an army of 500,000 and were determined to destroy the evil force of the Embers of the Burned Kingdom.
They occupied the south bank of the river and built a complete defensive fortification and trenches, with their defense line stretching for more than ten miles.
The kingdom, in turn, showed them considerable respect and finally took the matter seriously, deploying its main military forces here. The total number of soldiers, including various dragon vein soldiers, kingdom superhumans, and elite Starfallers, reached nearly 60,000, occupying the north bank of the river like a mottled torrent.
Although they may be slightly outnumbered, their morale is far superior. After all, those steel cannons and spears are not just for show.
The two armies faced each other across the river, with a total of more than 100,000 troops occupying this snow-covered plain. They were like two mighty torrents about to collide and create unimaginable waves.
Even the Oryol River and Inaki River rivers, known as the "Starting River" and the "Giant's River" and with widths reaching tens of meters, appear as narrower than ever before in the face of the impending war, like a canal between two colossal giants.
In the thousand-year history of the the North, there has never been a war of this scale.
It should be noted that, according to scholars' estimates, the number of serfs, who can only be called "Gray Livestock" in calculations, was only 4 to 6 million in the entire Northern United Kingdom, and this is even including the already destroyed Lakman Duchy.
If we exclude the original Lakman Duchy and take into account the recent large-scale population outflow to North Wind Fortress, this number would be even lower.
The feudal states of the the North were no match for the kingdoms; they had already exhausted all their resources and war potential by deploying these 90,000 men.
In order to maintain their family's rule, the Northern Nobles gambled everything on the table of war. In the process of mobilizing troops and requisitioning food, they Lieutenant General tens of thousands of people to starve and be killed.
Social contradictions in the North had reached an unprecedented extreme, and the exploitation of serfs by the nobility had reached its peak. It is no wonder that the "Spark" movement was able to develop so rapidly in various places.
In contrast, the Embers of the Burned Kingdom's basic production was not greatly affected, and all regions continued to operate in an orderly manner. People only felt that the war would bring a large number of orders, allowing them to earn more Gold Coin, although they would have to work harder.
Even the famous "Seven Kingdoms Battle" that nominally unified the the North claimed to have a million participants, but in reality, it was only about 100,000, with each participating family sending no more than 10,000 troops.
This was a war that Anzeta had never fought before, a war that would ultimately determine the fate of this land.
The magnificent music on the north bank continued, with the Half-goat Human playing with all their might. The magical power contained in the melody made the monsters even more excited, and they let out passionate battle roars.
Above the Allied forces on the south bank, Chanting Angel from Mount Paradise plucked their harps and sang radiant, holy songs that soothed the tense hearts of the Allied soldiers.
With the sound of horns, the Alliance's archers drew their bows and unleashed a dense rain of arrows towards the opposite bank.
However, the Ogre Shieldbearer and armored Terrestrial Dragon Beast stood at the forefront, blocking most of the arrows, leaving their shields and armor covered with a dense barrage of arrows.
"Hey ha, hey ha!"
Braving the relentless rain of arrows, the Ogre struggled to lift the giant wooden bridge from the back of the Terrain Dragon Beast onto their shoulders.
They simply pushed the logs forward to form a bridge spanning the river and connecting the two banks.
"Boom!"
A tremendous sound rang out, and the ground seemed to shake.
Then Druid from the kingdom raised his staff, and a faint green aura shone forth. Roots grew from both ends of the giant tree, taking hold on the ground on both sides of the river and firmly anchoring it to the river surface.
The trunk also became wider and flatter, forming a real bridge.
During this process, the Allied forces simply kept shooting arrows and did not easily step forward to stop them.
They were not yet aware of the kingdom's tactics and had no way to stop such methods. The best opportunity for them to attack would be when the kingdom's army crossed the river and charged.
Grand Duke Leo gazed solemnly at the army on the opposite bank, his expression devoid of passion, and simply gave the order:
"Let the undead go up first and test their strength."
After the serfs were turned against their cause on a large scale, the players absorbed by the Bosque Duchy became the new cannon fodder. Duke Leo was particularly "enlightened" to accept these unknown individuals.
"Their army is stronger now."
"We must not use common sense to speculate about the Embers of the Burned Kingdom."
Trischka, standing nearby, said worriedly, "Yes, Your Grace, this is the most terrifying place in the Embers of the Burned Kingdom."
"For thousands of years, our the North have remained almost unchanged, maintaining a stable order. But the kingdom is different. This monster has been constantly absorbing the Life Force around it, and in just a few years it has grown into such a behemoth. According to the scholars in the south... they are constantly evolving."
Grand Duke Leo said in a deep voice, "They have no chance to continue, because we will win this war."
"Pass down the order: send the Undead to the front lines to draw enemy fire."
"Yes, sir."
The messenger quickly mounted his horse, raised the battle flag, and relayed the order to the entire army.
However, it was still an army of 100,000, and even the seasoned Grand Duke Leo had never commanded a war of this scale.
"This is the kind of war I've always wanted in a world of swords and magic."
"This is the romance of the battlefield."
Gazing at the monster legion in the distance, the player nicknamed "Teutonic Knight," clad in plate armor, polished his silver sword to a gleaming shine.
Facing the terrifying army of the Embers of the Burned Kingdom, his face showed no fear, but rather great interest.
The Teutonic Knight is an experience-oriented player. He entered "Erezege" to experience the war in the fantasy world. Therefore, he did not choose North Wind Fortress, which was recommended by many strategy guides, as his starting point. Instead, he chose Strafford Fortress, which was more in line with his idea of medieval style.
Now, he is the player leader of the Alliance faction, and even received the noble status of Honorary Knight from Grand Duke Leo himself with a sword.
"Great! His Excellency the Duke has sent us to the front lines."
"Gentlemen, let's fight the Kingdom Elder to the death!"
"Cut off that Red Dragon's head and charge with me!"
The Teutonic Knight leaped onto their steeds, raised their silver swords high, and excitedly pointed them at the legions on the opposite bank.
That's it! Fighting against players from the opposing faction—this is the kind of war I've been looking for! It's so exhilarating! Led by the Teutonic Knight, five thousand Alliance players rushed onto the battlefield one after another, becoming tools for both sides to test each other.
