Destroying the Tribe
"Roar--"
The Terrestrial Dragon Beast let out a deep roar and charged directly into the burning camp.
These Hill Giant were much larger than ordinary humanoid creatures, but they were still no match for the charging horde of these mountain-sized dragon beasts.
"Ah!"
"It hurts!"
These crude giants were trampled underfoot and smashed into a bloody pulp, emitting screams and wails.
Who are you?
"Why have you intruded into our tribe!"
The hunched, staff-wielding elder of the Hill Giant was filled with shock and rage. For millennia, they had lived like savages on the mountain, leading a beastly life focused solely on eating and reproducing, but they also possessed the most basic wisdom.
These giant elders, often the wisest among them, even knew a few basic words of the Common Tongue and posed such a question.
He lived in Carterpa for many years.
The Hill Giant already knew how terrifying the humans in the south were, so they never attacked them proactively, but instead greedily devoured all the creatures around them.
Although they did not develop their own culture, they would try to imitate the behavior of certain creatures before eating them.
However, it was just simple imitation; they didn't even consider whether their size was suitable for doing so—once, a tribe of Hill Giant collectively imitated Elf and lived in the trees, resulting in the collapse of all the trees in the forest.
This time, the appearance of a new enemy has disrupted their centuries-old traditions and left the Hill Giant bewildered and helpless.
The Hobgoblin Earl rose from the back of the Terrestrial Dragon Beast, looked down at the Hill Giant not far away, and laughed arrogantly, "Who are we? You ask who we are?"
"We are the Empire's expeditionary force!"
"We will bring utter death and destruction to this place! Simply because you are vermin that breed on the imperial territory!"
Jesse intended to throw his spear and kill the Hill Giant elder, but after a moment's thought, he grinned and pulled out the pistol from his waist, quickly raising it to aim.
"Foolish fools, taste the wisdom of the Empire!"
"Bang!"
With a gunshot, a bloody hole suddenly appeared between the eyebrows of the Hill Giant elder, and his massive body crashed to the ground.
Hahahaha!
"My darling!"
Jesse blew away the thin smoke from the muzzle of the gun, carefully put it back on his waist, and felt immense satisfaction every time he fired it.
Having experienced the war against the "Everfrost" tribe, the Empire's army had gained considerable experience in slaughtering giants.
They worked in groups of two or three, dividing and encircling the battlefield, launching attacks from different directions, always managing to kill these clumsy guys before they could even find the enemy.
Gunshots, the clatter of Terrestrial Dragon Beast ' claws and hooves, the howls of Hill Giant, and the shouts of imperial soldiers mingled on the battlefield.
The smell of blood and Gunsmoke permeated the wilderness.
These savage, unruly Hill Giant had no chance of winning against the well-trained Imperial infantry and lancers—even with their enormous size and strength.
The Hobgoblin lieutenant, also riding on the back of Terrestrial Dragon Beast, trampled a Hill Giant lying on the ground to death, and shouted to Jesse from afar, "Earl lord, there seem to be some little cubs in the cave!"
Jesse's face immediately turned cold, and he said sternly, "Leave no one alive, kill them all."
These Hill Giant, though called little cubs, are much taller than ordinary people, with the shortest being two meters tall. They huddled trembling deep inside the cave.
At Jesse's command, the Hobgoblin threw bundles of firewood into the cave, and several Wyvern landed on the ground, blocking the entrance and simultaneously spewing flames into the cave.
Instantly, the firewood burst into flames, and thick smoke billowed into the depths of the cave. The Hill Giant cubs, unable to bear the smoke and heat, howled as they fled, trying to escape the cave.
But before they could even step outside the cave, the Hobgoblin infantry, who had been lined up and waiting at the cave entrance, all pulled their triggers, their rifles emitting loud bangs.
"Bang!"
"Bang! Bang!"
The entrance to the cave was piled with charred corpses, their features unrecognizable, some of them riddled with bullet holes.
"My lord, the Hill Giant must have all come from here. We have already cleared this area."
"Very well, these damned bastards dared to attack our hunting party and even ate a Hobgoblin. They deserved it."
Jesse crossed his arms, inhaling the lingering scent of Gunsmoke in the air, savoring the beauty of war.
Hill Giant are considered harmful creatures and cannot become citizens; this was the conclusion reached by the imperial high command.
Unlike their Lawful Evil relatives, the Frost Giant, the Hill Giant are purely Chaotic Evil monsters with extremely low intelligence.
In addition, there is a hidden factor that is "not for outsiders to know": these Hill Giant are extremely similar to Ogre in appearance, habits and bloodline.
In the complex social system of the Titans, Ogre are below all Titan classes. Due to this nature, ordinary Ogre will do almost anything to satisfy a Titan's request.
Although the Ogre of the Empire had experienced a leap in intelligence and were no longer bound by the giants, they still did not want races with overlapping ecological niches to take their place.
Moreover, according to the Imperial Think Tank's assessment, the cost of transforming these Hill Giant into "valuable Imperial Citizen" far outweighs the benefits.
In summary, Frost Giant could become a slave race of the Empire, while Hill Giant were only fit to be eradicated as pests.
Jesse stepped forward, stomped on the enormous head of the Hill Giant, and then casually kicked it away.
"Bart, is there any further movement from the Thrace Kingdom? — After they burned down their old castle."
"Earl lord, in the last two days, the Red Scale Conqueror have discovered Thrace Kingdom scouts on the border, but after our observation, they are just some insignificant ragtag troops."
"Their elite divine warriors have all been transferred to the south to resist the offensive of the Kassand Kingdom."
Jesse frowned slightly, and said with some displeasure, "Arrogance! These Thrace actually dare to send out scouts?"
"It seems they still don't know how powerful the Empire is!"
The Hobgoblin Earl drew his pistol from his waist, held it in his hand, feeling its cold texture, and aimed it into the distance.
"If it weren't for His Your Majesty Keosius' concern for the people's livelihood, our Embers of the Burned Empire's army would have already marched straight in and taken down that so-called ' City of Sunrise,' Auguste!"
"We're already being lenient by not going looking for trouble. Who gave them the audacity to test us!"
The Hobgoblin Earl his eyes, turned to look south, and asked coldly, "How far are we from where those scouts are stationed?"
"It's very close, just sixty miles to the southeast."
Jesse fired several shots southward and shouted, "Gentlemen, let's set off immediately and make these Thrace realize the reality and the power of the Empire!"
"For the Empire!"
