Arcane Hermit Order (IV)
The auction featured many novel items, which, while not particularly functional, had a wide variety of uses, much to Keosius's amazement.
However, he soon wanted to earn some extra money on his own.
So, on Keosius's orders, the "Iron Golem" took out scales from its Dimensional Bag.
"What's this?"
"There seem to be residual Lightning Elemental on it, and the reaction is very violent."
"Are these dragon scales?"
Everyone observed it closely, but no one could figure out its origin yet, and Keosius just smiled without saying a word.
"They are scales from Azure Foot Dragon Snake."
Ms. Star said with certainty.
"The armor made from the scales of this monster has the effect of protecting against lightning, and these scales still have elemental residue. They should be no more than ten years old. In the hands of some masters, they can even be used to create artifacts that can release Chain Lightning, Lightning Beam and other evocation spells."
Keosius then said, "I am truly impressed by your profound knowledge."
Ms. Star smiled slightly, seemingly quite pleased with herself.
"However... please wait a moment."
The "Iron Golem" had several Dimensional Bag tied to its waist. He emptied them one by one, and they were filled with scales of the Azure Foot Dragon Snake.
"So much?"
"My God, how many suits of armor could this make?"
"This must have killed a Azure Foot Dragon Snake, or even more than one."
Just as everyone was discussing, Keosius said a number, "These total two thousand Gold Coin."
For a moment, everyone fell silent, as no one could produce so many Gold Coin at once.
After a moment's hesitation, the Gray Eagle said, "Five hundred Gold Coin, I want a quarter of them."
The Seeker of Knowledge then added, "Me too."
And so, half of Keosius's scales, which had been gathering dust for years, were sold for a thousand Gold Coin, though he had actually done something slightly shady.
The scales had accumulated in the nest for many years, and he was very familiar with them. Therefore, he was able to determine their location using the dragon race's innate "Item Positioning" Spell-like Abilities, which could cover a range of several kilometers.
Upon entering, he noticed a medal faintly visible on the chest of the "Gray Eagle" robe—a medal depicting an eagle and a sword.
"I hope you will store them carefully in your storage room."
"At that time—"
I will come to find you.
Keosius looked at the buyer with a friendly gaze, but the other party didn't take it to heart, assuming that he was satisfied with the outcome of the transaction.
The transaction was completed quickly.
Besides sharing magical knowledge, exchanging research results, and auctioning goods, the Arcane Hermit Order sometimes takes the opportunity to seek help in eliminating evil, such as the current call for action by the Gray Eagle.
"The Ember Nest —you may not have heard of this name yet, but this evil force has expanded throughout the entire Storm Highlands, and has even threatened the surrounding nations. Ogre, Wyvern, Chimera —those evil and terrifying monsters have gathered in one place."
"The Ember Nest?"
"I think I've heard some adventurers in the area mention it."
"That land of death?"
"Their leader appears to be a Red Dragon."
Gray Eagle gritted his teeth and said, "That's right! Their leader is a brutal Red Dragon, these despicable reptiles."
"Dragons, these guys are born with immense power, yet they still try to take everything from us."
"Their desires are insatiable; they greedily thirst for more, attempting to seize all the world's treasures. And righteous people like us should stand up—"
Upon hearing this, Olivia frowned slightly, but she didn't say anything more.
However, Keosius interrupted at the right moment, saying, "Lord Gray Eagle, you are making a generalization. Aren't there also benevolent dragons like Golden Dragon and Silver Dragon among the dragons?"
"These noble creatures are far more deserving of the word 'justice' than mortals."
"That's true."
Olivia nodded slightly, almost unconsciously.
But she quickly realized that her words and actions were inappropriate and noticed the smiling look in Keosius's eyes.
She gave Keosius a deep look, then fell silent.
"The dragon's goodwill..."
Keosius thought to himself, "This is the contradiction of these Metallic Dragon."
On the one hand, their lifespan is incredibly long, and they believe themselves to be far more noble than other creatures, just like most dragons. Therefore, they would never view other creatures from an equal perspective.
At the same time, these Metallic Dragon are "kind," happy to help weak creatures and uphold their own sense of justice, which makes this behavior closer to giving alms to pets.
The interruption displeased Gray Eagle, but he continued, "Right now, Dukes Lakman, Bosque, and Nott are organizing a coalition to eradicate evil from this land and attack the Ember Nest."
"However... the allied forces still lack some spellcasters. If any of you here are willing to fight for the order and peace of Anzeta, you can contact me. My family can also provide sufficient rewards for those who step forward. At least this price will definitely satisfy you."
"But that so-called Ember Nest hasn't attacked you yet, has it?"
"So why... did you deliberately start a war?"
Olivia asked softly.
Silver Dragon do not like war; they abhor injustice and cruelty. However, unlike Golden Dragon, they do not enjoy being the nemesis of evil and despicable acts. Rather than punishing or eradicating evildoers, Silver Dragon are more concerned with protecting the innocent and healing their wounds.
Upon seeing that it was the person of the highest status who spoke, Gray Eagle quickly said, "Lady Star, that is a Red Dragon. You can have the worst expectations of it."
"Its claws and flames could displace us at any moment; it could abduct our wives and daughters, and destroy our homes. The only thing we can do is to strike first."
"Slap, slap, slap!"
Applause erupted in the empty hall.
—That was emitted by Keosius.
"Well said, Lord Gray Eagle. This Red Dragon has indeed jeopardized the peace and order of Anzeta. In my hometown, there is a saying: With great power comes great responsibility."
"We spellcasters, as the darlings of the world, do indeed have a responsibility to uphold justice and eradicate these brutal and evil beings. I believe that everyone here thinks the same way."
"I, and the forces behind me, are willing to contribute to the Allied Forces' conquest."
Keosius's words were resounding and powerful.
Seeing the strong support from the wealthy and mysterious Keosius, Gray Eagle was overjoyed and completely forgot his earlier displeasure. He stepped forward and flattered him, saying, "Embers, I truly have the utmost respect for your willingness to fight against a dragon for the sake of justice."
Keosius waved his hand and said, "It's alright. We're all on the path of pursuing justice, and this is what we should be doing."
"That's exactly right."
Applause erupted from all around.
The two men shook hands warmly with friendly smiles, each harboring their own ulterior motives and believing the other to be Da Tou, though Keosius had a better grasp of the information.
