Avak Central Laboratory's grounds were a complex of multiple buildings shaped like the character "回," with a large botanical courtyard at the front. Many ascendant plants and psychic plants were cultivated there, forming a harmonious miniature ecosystem.

But within the subspace created by the Silent Abyss, all those plants had vanished. Only massive corpses and black thorns protruding from the soil remained in the spacious courtyard, grim and grotesque.

As its name implied, subspace was a peculiar realm of time and space that existed between the Void Realm and the real world. It followed the rules of both worlds, yet could undergo tremendous changes due to various conditions. Many exceptionally dangerous Void Realm Demonic Beasts were strengthened within subspace, and certain special inheritances could even artificially create subspace—creating a personal "mind-image space-time."

But the Central Laboratory's subspace had clearly already become "labyrinthized."

The place was filled with Demonic Beasts and phantoms. All manner of savage ghosts and monsters wandered within it, howling in rage or despair.

When Ian opened the doors, completed the "ritual," and stepped from reality into subspace, he did not appear behind the doors. Instead, he arrived somewhere unknown, presumably at a randomly teleported location.

He had long prepared himself mentally, so even when he opened his eyes to see a huge swarm of Demonic Beast phantoms charging straight at his face, he was not surprised in the slightest.

Beyond the entrance lay the open-air ecological garden. Many crimson humanoid monsters, made of nothing but muscle and lacking skin, crawled over the giant corpses, alongside phantoms whose faces were twisted with madness. Some sat, some stood; there were over thirty of them, and they had been getting along rather harmoniously.
