War on the Terra Continent was mainly divided into three parts: peak duels between powerful individuals, elite-unit strikes against core targets, and the defensive counterattacks of large forces.
Because of the existence of sublimators, warfare in this world was completely different from that on Earth. Beyond the coordination between ordinary armored units and infantry, and between air units and ground units, sublimated units also had to coordinate with non-sublimated units.
The result of that coordination was that combat units composed of ordinary people were mostly made up of commoners and First Energy Level officers. Their task was not to storm fortified positions, nor to expend the enemy's strength with their lives... because they could not. Given the conventional firepower of Terra's nations, without fortifications such as forts and strongholds, no matter how many troops there were, they would be blasted into ash.
Thus, their task was to "hold fast" and "control the area," and more than half of them were garrison and engineering units.
Relying on forts and strongholds, they used all manner of defensive works capable of threatening sublimators and armored units to block enemy advances.
The peak duels between powerful individuals referred to sublimators of the Third Energy Level and above.
Against ordinary armies, they were butchers. If one side had them and the other did not, then unless the other side possessed things like Aether Armor or Void Realm Mech-Gods, defeat was inevitable.
Therefore, when two sides went to war, their peak fighters ought to be evenly matched, while both sides' main forces held their respective positions and gradually gnawed away at the other's controlled territory.
The duty of attack thus fell to the "elite units."
In the past, these elite units referred to high-speed armored sublimator forces centered on armored units and Second Energy Level sublimators,
