Power Progression

Longyuan Mountain does not cultivate independently. Its changes come chiefly from spiritual energy and formations established by Ye Qin.

Geography and Appearance

Longyuan Mountain is the tallest of the interconnected peaks near Longyuan Village. The village stands about a hundred meters from its foot, with a large lake nearby 37 157.

• Peaks and mist — Its green ridges are often veiled in white mist and clouds 37 217.
• Forest — The mountain has dense vegetation and a secluded interior that was rarely visited before it was sealed off 81 119.
• Central area — Ye Qin places the core of his protection formation in the mountain forest; later, spiritual veins and especially transformed plants develop toward the center 119 226.

History

Ye Qin begins cultivating on Longyuan Mountain and regards it as the place where he attained enlightenment. He intends it to become the Demon Clan’s ancestral court and establishes a formation to protect it 119 120. When Li Minghai’s group seeks to develop the mountain as a tourist attraction, the villagers protest, fearing they will disturb the Mountain God. The surveyors encounter strange phenomena, and the project is eventually cancelled 119 120 123.

After investigating reports of fog, disorientation, dreams, unusual animals and deaths associated with the mountain, the 749 Bureau orders a lockdown and designates it a human forbidden zone 130 132 133. Ye Qin later returns, strengthens its formation and teaches gathered animals to cultivate. Many gain spiritual intelligence 156 157.

Longyuan Mountain remains the center of Ye Qin’s demon disciples’ activities even as some leave to guard other mountains 227 229. He also chooses a cave there as the entrance to a Blessed Grotto-Heaven, intending to connect it with other cultivation sites 244 245. When the Longyuan Celestial Sect is built, its buildings are arranged around the mountain rather than substantially altering it 280.

Protective Formation and Anomalies

• Disorientation and concealment — The formation can cause entrants to lose their way and conceal Ye Qin behind mist 119 120 126.
• Danger to intruders — Its later upgrade incorporates killing and punishment methods. A 749 Bureau team encounters storms, lightning, fire and hail while investigating the mountain 130.
• Apparent disappearance — Villagers see the mountain vanish and reappear while Ye Qin preaches to the animals; Wu Yuan, arriving separately, sees it standing there throughout 157.
• Disaster protection — Ye Qin uses the mountain’s formation, a cauldron and talismans during an earthquake and its predicted aftershock. Longyuan Village remains intact, in contrast to affected areas elsewhere 170 172 173.
• Resistance to snow — During a global blizzard, the formation keeps wind and snow from ravaging the mountain, whose hills remain green 300.
