Background / History

Long Ling was the final princess and last known royal survivor of the Dragon Dynasty. When the Great Hao Dynasty exterminated her clan, her parents sacrificed themselves to draw away the pursuers. She fled in disguise as a scholar, surviving repeated assassination attempts before poison from an earlier arrow wound began destroying her organs. 199

In a Fragmented Epoch, she encountered Ye Qin while being hunted by Great Hao assassins. She refused to surrender, sought his aid after recognizing his supernatural power, and accepted that he could not reverse her impending death. Ye Qin nevertheless took her to confront the Great Hao emperor, allowing her to see her vengeance fulfilled before she chose to await reunion with her slain family. 199 200

Ye Qin placed the dying Long Ling in the cave on Longyuan Mountain, where she told him that she might “sleep for a very long time.” Her bond with Ye Qin became the basis for his Bone Contemplation and Source Bone visualization. 201 206

During Ye Qin's Dragon Transformation Heavenly Tribulation, Long Ling's remains manifested to block a lethal strike. The remains subsequently merged with his Source Bone, which developed flesh and assumed Long Ling's appearance. This Source Clone initially functioned only through Ye Qin's power and did not possess Long Ling's independent consciousness. 203 206

Under the Eternal Life Pact, Ye Qin later reshaped bodies for ancient figures and invited their True Spirits to descend. Long Ling's True Spirit was the first to enter a new body, stabilizing through Shangqing Temple's incense offerings and Sentience of the Masses. 226

She repeatedly avoids direct confrontation when an advantageous alternative exists, including delaying entry into dangerous ruins, exploiting rival cultivators' greed, and opening a new spatial exit rather than confronting stronger ancient sect forces. 422 445 456

Her methods can be ruthless. In the Ancient God Sect ruins, she uses restrictions, illusions, life-soul control, and the Myriad Souls Banner to force hostile cultivators into submission and build a subordinate force. 435 438 450
