Background / History

Following the losses of Liesun's royal leadership during the De Nuo War, Pan Zhen became one of the figures responsible for the civilization's revitalization. He acted as both a father figure and regent to Di Leina, while training loyal military talent such as Xuan Tianji and using him to counter the Council of Elders' influence over the young goddess. 320

Pan Zhen's fear for Liesun's future intensified after he dreamed of Leina, the demons, and the Nether River bringing about Holy Keisha's fall—only for Liesun to be ruined and later crushed by Ai Lan's Angel Civilization. In response, he strengthened control over Heavenly Dao Star System and Cloud Firmament City, ordered surveillance of Leina, and had the Black Crocodile Army surround the Council of Elders. 83

He was previously arrested by Ai Lan for crimes committed in the De Nuo Civilization and imprisoned in the Interstellar Prison. His later return from prison was treated by Merlot Heavenly Court as a major strategic development because of his continued influence over Liesun's military. 233 475

After decades governing Liesun, Pan Zhen ultimately relinquished all authority to Di Leina when she accused him of seeking the throne. He resigned, disappeared, and was subsequently erased from Liesun's official history; his former students and allies were purged, demoted, or executed. 311

During his exile on Freyja, Pan Zhen rejected Yang Yu's recruitment offer despite learning of the Star Ancient Empire's war for humanity's survival in the High Dimension. He maintained that he was born a subject of Liesun and would not betray it. 316 317

Appearance

Pan Zhen is a middle-aged man whose presence is associated with a veteran general's bearing. When he returned to Cloud Firmament City, he wore ancient-style general's attire and carried a sword at his waist. 414

  • Described as middle-aged and imposing. 414
  • Often appears in military attire or armor. 311 575
  • Carries a long sword on formal occasions. 414
  • Uses a God-Slaying spear in combat. 87

Personality

Pan Zhen is defined by his loyalty to Liesun rather than personal loyalty to Di Leina. He considers the civilization's people, military, and long-term survival more important than his own safety or reputation; this conviction leads him to accept the possibility of becoming a “sinner” if it protects the throne and nation. 86 87 233

He is cautious, calculating, and unwilling to act unless he sees a path to success. Merlot's analysts characterize him as a concealed “poisonous snake” who can influence the direction of a civilization, while his own decisions consistently prioritize preparation, intelligence, and the avoidance of strategically disastrous commitments. 233 470

Pan Zhen can also be ruthless. Upon returning to power, he ordered the execution of ministers he judged corrupt or disloyal, isolated Leina politically, and used military force to dismantle her government. 414 Despite this severity, he shows concern for his disciples' lives and futures, including Wu Zhao and Xuan Tianji. 414 473

Loyalty and legacy

Pan Zhen insists that the title of Great General carries an obligation to sacrifice for Liesun. He claims not to seek royal power or wealth, but openly desires to leave a decisive mark on Liesun's history by restoring and surpassing its former strength. 83 86

Strategic pragmatism

He will compromise when the alternative risks Liesun's destruction. Faced with Great Qin's implied connection to a higher-dimensional Qin power, Pan Zhen accepted an agreement rather than gamble on provoking a Level-5 Sequence threat. 480

Abilities & Skills

Military command

Pan Zhen commands exceptional loyalty from Liesun's military. Even after leaving office, his influence over the armed forces remained greater than Di Leina's, and his return caused Cloud Firmament Heavenly Guards and civilian officials alike to defer to him. 231 233 414

  • Mobilized the Red Phoenix Heavenly Guard Army to patrol Old Cloud Firmament City. 83
  • Ordered Xuan Tianji to hold Heavenly Dao Star System and Xuan Kun to surround the Council of Elders. 83
  • Directs territory-expansion campaigns and assigns fleet groups to seize star regions. 422 452
  • Planned a two-front war: 75% of Liesun's forces against the Beast Body Civilization while personally handling the Great Qin front. 478
  • Requested eighty million Great Qin warships as potential assistance for Liesun. 570

Political authority and statecraft

As regent, Pan Zhen can reorganize Liesun's government, military, and economy through direct command. He removed Di Leina's ministers, released imprisoned officials to take over military positions, and warned foreign civilizations to prepare for Liesun's retaliation. 414

  • Advocates separating military and civil administration while allowing Leina to gain grassroots governing experience. 471
  • Prioritizes population growth, research capacity, military technology, and territorial expansion. 452
  • Negotiates directly with Great Qin and Merlot Heavenly Court over war, territory, and non-interference. 476 480
  • Declined a Superbrain intended for Liesun's highest leader, despite supporting the Academy of Sciences' military-development needs. 451

Strategic and cosmic knowledge

Pan Zhen actively seeks advanced knowledge, consulting Ji Ming about Fifth Generation Lifeform technology and explaining major cosmic developments to First Emperor Ying Zheng. 432 438

  • Understands the strategic significance of Fifth Generation Lifeforms, though he had not yet upgraded into one at the time of Ying Zheng's inquiry. 438
  • Warned Morgana that Holy Keisha's death could enable the Divine River's return and endanger both demons and Liesun. 88
  • Informed Ying Zheng that the Pangu Civilization had altered the universe's timeline and imposed restrictions on Fifth Generation Super Lifeforms. 438
  • Recognized the risks posed by the Void Clan and sought Merlot intelligence on its members and king. 476

Combat capability

Pan Zhen is a frontline general capable of confronting high-level opponents, though he is not documented as a Fifth Generation Lifeform. Great Qin's Fifth Generation Lifeforms Ying Zheng and Bai Qi were considered individually capable of killing him. 480

  • Wields a God-Slaying spear described as the pinnacle of Liesun craftsmanship. 87
  • Attempted to force his way through the Andromeda Galaxy before Xue Yi and Jia Li Ya confined him in a Time-Space Cage. 87
  • Avoided direct escalation when trapped, instead seeking an audience with Morgana to make a strategic warning. 88

  • Xuan Tianji — His eldest disciple; Pan Zhen trained him as both Leina's “whetstone” and a safeguard against the Council of Elders. 320 473
  • Di Hongkun — Liesun's king and Pan Zhen's trusted superior. Di Hongkun affirms that Pan Zhen would never betray Liesun. 83 86

  • Ji Ming — Star-Level Research Academician who advises Pan Zhen on lifeform technology and later seeks his return from seclusion to stabilize Liesun. 433 412
  • Morgana — Demon Queen whom Pan Zhen sought out to warn about the consequences of Holy Keisha's death. 88
  • Bai Qi — Great Qin's Minister of Military Affairs; a dangerous negotiating counterpart whose Fifth Generation strength forces Pan Zhen to treat Great Qin cautiously. 480
  • Qi Lin — An Earth-born girl whose Liesun identity Pan Zhen arranged; he refuses to exploit her for political schemes. 473 476

Regent of expansion

As regent, Pan Zhen prepares Liesun for interstellar competition through warship development, research investment, population growth, and territorial campaigns. He treats the coming struggle with Great Qin, Merlot Heavenly Court, the Beast Body Civilization, and the Nether River as a decisive opportunity for Liesun to reach the summit. 452 470 476

Negotiations with Great Qin

Pan Zhen initially attempted to pressure Great Qin into non-interference while Liesun conquered the Beast Body Civilization. After Bai Qi presented the possibility of higher-dimensional retaliation, Pan Zhen accepted a compromise rather than expose Liesun to an uncontrollable threat. 479 480
