King Bowser felt the power surging within him and burst into wildly arrogant laughter.
Just then, the Turtle Demon King's resentment energy began eroding King Bowser's soul. His eyes gradually turned crimson, and his consciousness began to blur.
"What's happening? Who's controlling me?"
A flicker of clarity suddenly flashed in King Bowser's eyes, and he cried out in alarm. A second later, confusion and murderous intent swallowed that clarity once again.
The Turtle Demon King had been tricked to death by another Demon King, leaving his corpse filled with resentment energy. King Bowser, a petty tyrant who had taken a shortcut to power, could not suppress that overwhelming resentment energy. Before long, he became its puppet completely.
"Kill, kill, kill! Every living creature deserves to die! Why are you still alive when I'm dead?"
King Bowser roared, unleashing over a hundred crimson beams from his body in an indiscriminate attack. The turtles, Lava Island, and even the distant buildings were all pierced by the beams.
"Run!"
Realizing something was wrong, everyone fled for their lives. Wade cursed and teleported away, while Homelander flew high into the sky, stunned.
Homelander had never considered the old King Bowser a threat. But now, to his fury, he realized he was no match for him.
Although Homelander had been improving all along, he was still one step short of Skyfather level, or Demon King level. He asked resentfully in his mind, Death, why did you give such tremendous power to a giant turtle instead of me?
"Are you sure you want it? That giant turtle will die in an hour."
With the plan going smoothly, Death was in a good mood. The deity laughed and said,
