Wade is loud, shameless, greedy, and intensely theatrical. He treats dangerous missions, mass destruction, and even his own deaths as chances to earn money, gain publicity, or maintain his “protagonist” status. He repeatedly demands salaries, compensation, reimbursement, or rewards before cooperating 664 1516 2866.

His apparent insanity is also a tactical advantage. Wade’s thoughts are too erratic for psychic enemies to predict, allowing him to contaminate the Zerg collective mind with chaotic imagined constructs 993. He is not wholly irrational, however: he understands that preserving his recognizable personality maintains audience popularity, and he deliberately seeks involvement in major events to keep that popularity alive 3574.

Despite his self-interest, Wade has personal lines he will not cross. He refuses to help harm Long-haired Superman, whom he considers a close friend, and he remains attached to Wolverine despite constantly tormenting him 1841 2823.

His Bee Star Gene transformation turns him into a substantially stronger field operative. Although he initially pretends to be under Bee Star control, he and Orm use the confusion to kill Bee Star soldiers and profit from the situation 688.
