Background

Wade was originally a mercenary who developed cancer and voluntarily joined an inhumane experiment in hopes of surviving. The experiment granted him an extreme healing factor but did not remove the cancer; his body continually destroys and restores itself, leaving him perpetually close to death. The process also disfigured his face, which Wade compares to an avocado. 512

He later operated alongside the X-Men during the Hammer Industries conflict. Entangled by drone battle-suit chains, Wade remained behind during the incoming explosions and casually yawned while being thrown through the air by the blast. 72
