Dr. Reed knew what was going on. He asked the Mastermind, "We can do as you say, but there is one question I must make clear: who exactly are you?"
"Does it matter who I am?"
The Mastermind had no intention of answering. It said, "I will now transfer you to Hell. Whether you choose rebirth is up to you. Also, I will send your equipment over for you."
With that, Dr. Reed and the other two were directly kicked out of the Mental Space. Then, they discovered that they had arrived in Hell—though they had never been there before, the lava volcanoes everywhere made it obvious at a glance.
Immediately afterward, the Cosmic Energy Gate Dr. Reed had created was also transported over. Dr. Reed and the other two looked rather grim. The Mastermind seemed to have given them a choice, but in truth, it had not.
The Thing cursed and asked Dr. Reed, "Reed, what do we do?"
"At this point, we have no other choice. We can only undergo Hell Fusion and be reborn."
Dr. Reed gritted his teeth and said, "Jonathan, Ben, as long as we're alive, there's hope for everything. We'll take it slowly."
"That's right. As long as we're alive, there's hope."
The Thing and the Human Torch nodded in agreement. Then, the three fused together. Although the Human Torch had struggled, he was still defeated by Dr. Reed, so Dr. Reed remained the dominant will of the Fusion Body.
Next, Dr. Reed stepped into the Energy Gate and activated the equipment. A vast amount of Cosmic Energy gathered around him, helping him be reborn and become even stronger.

The Energy Gate itself came with a power supply system. Once activated, Cosmic Energy would charge the equipment.
