"Ah?"
Susan was stunned. The new Boss actually wanted to promote her? The problem was, she was preparing to resign. She said tactfully, "Mr. Wang, the board has some objections regarding you and Doom."
More than objections, to be precise, they were extremely dissatisfied—Doom was the core of Doom Group. Once news of his share transfer spread, Doom Group's market value was immediately cut in half. The directors were furious and were preparing to break up and sell the group to recover their losses.
"A minor matter."
Andrew said, "The board meets at noon. Come with me then."
Susan hesitated. "This..."
"What's there to hesitate about?"
Andrew smiled. "If we win the bet, you'll be the group's vice president. If we lose, the worst that can happen is getting kicked out. You were planning to resign anyway."
Susan was a little embarrassed. She asked, "Mr. Wang, do you have a way to convince those directors?"
"I'm very good at persuading people. All right, you can leave now."
Andrew said. Susan nodded and turned to leave. She did not hold much hope for Andrew's words. Those directors were Demons who ate people without even spitting out the bones. They would never let Andrew take control of Doom Group.
"Susan isn't sad at all. Poor Doom."
Watching Susan's infinitely beautiful retreating figure, Andrew shook his head. Susan did not truly love Doom. There was someone else in her heart. She had accepted Doom only because she needed a man's affection.
Not long after Susan left, four men entered Andrew's office. At their head was a middle-aged man who looked extremely wise, followed by the Three Demons: Wind Demon, Earth Demon, and Water Demon.
Unlike their previous bedraggled state, the Three Demons now wore designer suits and expensive leather shoes, looking quite presentable—though they radiated pure nouveau riche energy. That embarrassing Earth Demon had not even removed the tags.
"You're here. Howard, how is the investment company coming along?"
Andrew asked. Howard was one of the five souls he had obtained from Mephisto, though this body was not Howard's original one.
In Las Vegas, a Lawyer who had gambled himself into a frenzy had wagered his soul against Andrew. Then, his body had become Howard's.
"The paperwork is done."
Howard nodded first, then complained, "Boss, I'm one of the world's top scientists. Using me as a Lawyer is a waste of talent."
Andrew smiled. "Don't rush. You'll have plenty of opportunities to show what you can do in the future. Though you may end up being surpassed by your son."
"That kid?"
Howard was quite displeased. He said, "Just look at all his tabloid scandals. How does he resemble a scientist in the slightest?"
"Weren't you the same before you got married?"
Andrew shook his head and asked, "Howard, I'm really curious. With your intelligence, why did you make a deal with Mephisto?"
"People are powerless in many matters."
Howard did not want to say much. He said, "The deal I made with Mephisto was an ordinary one. Who knew it would taint my soul with dark energy? Through that dark energy, he fished me out of the River Styx.
"After that, I became one of his collectibles. God, I don't even know how I endured those past dozen years. Every so often, he'd drag me out and torture me. Worse still, he never let me do any research."
"It seems the latter has made you even more resentful. Mephisto is an old timer. He doesn't understand your value."
Andrew smiled, then Turned Head toward the Three Demons and ordered, "Your work from now on is to use money to buy souls at places like casinos and hospitals. I'm easy to talk to. You can wait until they die before collecting their souls.
"The more souls you buy, the richer the rewards I'll give you."
"Boss, we'll definitely perform well."
The Three Demons declared in unison. Following Andrew these past few days had been exhilarating. It was worlds apart from constantly hiding and running as they had before. Being able to follow Boss was their greatest fortune.
Andrew said, "Good. When buying souls, if you run into competitors—Demon worshippers, that is—deal with them directly."
"Deal with them directly?"
The Three Demons were stunned. Wind Demon said, "Boss, that will anger the other Demon Kings."
"So what? On Earth, I am the strongest Demon King. Every soul belongs to me."
Andrew said, "Besides, do you think they won't become my enemies just because we don't get rid of those worshippers?"
The Three Demons understood and nodded. "Boss, we know what to do."
"You are my subordinates. You need not fear anyone. I will give you the power, glory, and wealth you desire. But let me make this clear: every deal must be voluntary, and you are not to harm humans."
Andrew said in an icy voice, "I believe you don't want to know what happens when you disobey my orders."
The Three Demons hurriedly lowered their heads. "We wouldn't dare."
Andrew waved a hand. "Go. Every month, I'll set performance targets for you. Don't disappoint me. As for money, don't worry. I'll keep transferring it to you."
"Yes."
The Three Demons left respectfully. Howard looked at Andrew and said, "Apart from that final warning, you're completely different from other Demon Kings."
"Whether you're a person or a Demon King, you need some principles."
Andrew shook his head. He said, "Come with me to the board meeting. There'll be a large number of documents for you to handle."
"Fine, I'll fill in for two more days."
Howard said with a suggestive grin, "I know New York well. Want to go have some fun tonight? Maria has gone to Heaven, so I'm single now."
"You have the nerve to look down on your own son?"
Andrew mocked him. "Business first. My career is on the rise right now."
The board meeting!
From the very beginning, the directors had not even given Andrew a proper look. Ned, an investor from a certain bank, said directly, "Mr. Wang, you are not a member of Doom Group. You may observe this meeting, but that is all. We will purchase the shares In Hand at market price."
"That's right. Just watch from the side and don't speak."
The directors all chimed in. This matter had cost them dearly, so naturally they had no goodwill toward Andrew.
Andrew smiled. "I was going to be a little polite, but since you aren't being polite, I won't pretend either."
"You want to be impolite with us?"
Ned looked disdainful. The others sneered as well, not taking Andrew seriously at all.
Susan, standing behind Andrew, could not help shaking her head. In her view, Andrew was a little too ignorant of his own limits. Only Howard looked at the directors with pity. They had no idea whom they had offended.
Andrew did not waste any more words. Two flames Lit Up in his eyes. The moment the directors came into contact with the firelight in his eyes, every evil deed they had ever committed immediately surfaced in their minds.
For example, Ned had once betrayed his brothers and used loans to cause the deaths of several hundred innocent people. Now, each and every one of those evil deeds Appeared.
