History

Independence and internal instability

Xia gained independence from the Glorious Empire fifteen years before the events of Chapter 55. Its early post-independence period was marked by royal-family infighting and political instability, contributing to national decline 55.

Its position was further weakened by foreign pressure, domestic factionalism, and the inability of the state to restrain major martial organizations. To secure help against Humanoid threats, Xia compromised with the Martial Dao Holy Lands, allowing them to gain greater influence over the country 80.

Aurora conflict

Aurora invaded Xia through Wu River Port fifteen years earlier, causing more than 40,000 deaths in Xia Ya. The two countries then endured a decade of recurring friction; in a later border conflict, Xia suffered heavy losses before outside intervention ended the fighting with Aurora advancing the border marker by ten kilometers 237.

Aurora subsequently prepared a larger campaign against Xia, with its Southern Plan treating Xia as the key to controlling the Red Sun Strait and isolating the Knight Alliance from Red Flame Country 363.

Government and administration

• Royal Family — Xia retains a royal house, whose internal power struggles contributed to the kingdom's early instability 55.
• National Assembly — Provincial representatives exercise legislative, supervisory, and financial-oversight authority 55.
• Cabinet — The central government directs national policy and wartime strategy; Prime Minister Yasso is a prominent Cabinet leader during the Aurora conflict 410.
• Military — Xia's military includes major army groups, the Kunwu Squad, and armored special-operations units 410 414.
• Capital — Hill of Light serves as Xia's military, political, and economic center 184.

Martial arts policy and security

Xia's martial arts world was long dominated by the Qilin Sword Sect, Snow Mountain Six Meridians, and Penglai Immortal Sect. These Three Great Holy Lands controlled many sects and could destroy emerging rivals that threatened their position 309.

In response to national insecurity, Xia introduced a policy encouraging martial arts practice across society. Martial arts study was incorporated into education, while military officers required specified cultivation levels for promotion 109.

The government and Kunwu Squad later moved against the Three Great Holy Lands, eliminating the Snow Mountain Six Meridians and striking the Penglai Immortal Sect and Qilin Sword Sect. Prime Minister Yasso recognized Bai Li Qingfeng's role in these operations by calling him a national pillar 410.

Foreign relations

• Glorious Empire — Xia's former ruler. The empire previously used Xia City as a foreign-trade window for the East Divine Continent 55 146.
• Aurora Empire — Xia's principal northern rival for much of the story; Aurora repeatedly sought to annex Xia and later launched a major invasion 237 341.
• Red Flame Country and Knight Alliance — Their intervention helped end an earlier Aurora–Xia border conflict 237.
• Cavemen — A persistent external threat entering through Space Channels and attacking Xia's cities and military positions 111 527.
• Three Great Holy Lands — Domestic martial forces whose influence and armed resistance destabilized Xia before their suppression 309 410.

Xia City

Xia City was formerly a Glorious Empire trade hub and still contains an expansive embassy district. The Aurora Empire Consulate General alone occupies 340,000 square meters, with a reinforced battalion stationed there during heightened tensions 146.

In later years, Xia City develops rapidly alongside nearby Xia Ya, Kanon, and Wuhe. Construction expands around Blue Lake and the former University City District, while the city becomes notably more prosperous and socially harmonious than in Bai Li Qingfeng's early years 779 808.

Trivia

• Xia's climate is unusually warm: even in winter, temperatures rarely fall below ten degrees Celsius, and snowfall is said to have last occurred forty-six years before Chapter 340 340.
• Xia City, Wuhe City, and Xia Ya are geographically close; travel between Wuhe and Xia City is described as roughly a dozen kilometers 108.
• By the time of the Aurora reconciliation, Xia's victories and rising international standing have fostered a stronger civic confidence among its population 738.
