Background / History

Long Haoyu grew up in the thatched cottage with Bai Yue and his younger brother, Long Haochen. From age five, he handled household work and helped hold the family together; he regarded being an older brother as a responsibility and was notably gentle toward Haochen. His relationship with Long Xingyu began tensely, as Haoyu resented him and initially treated him coldly despite accepting his training and assistance 6 13 17.

He trained extensively in the Shadow Space and endured repeated life-and-death combat. After receiving Marrow Cleansing and Meridian Washing through Long Xingyu's preparations, he continued to develop both external and internal spiritual power, eventually pursuing actual combat in Haoyue Marsh to strengthen himself and satisfy Wu Feng's growth condition 12 42 44.

During the Six Paths Spirit Stove's Human Path trial, Haoyu saw scenes from his life and a possible future in which he became a bloodthirsty slaughterer. He recognized that his understanding of humanity was incomplete after years spent training and fighting, and resolved to experience the mortal world more fully 58. He later completed the Human Path and Asura Path trials and began attempting the Hell Path 120.

The Demon God Emperor later identified Haoyu as his grandson through their shared bloodline origin, making him the Second Heir to the Demon God Emperor position. Haoyu's Heaven-Defying Demon Dragon Clan bloodline grants him immense power but also creates a dangerous imbalance with his human and light-aligned nature 303 367.

Long Haoyu is a young knight who can appear far more mature and imposing than his age suggests. During the selection competition, Han Yu is described as nearly 1.9 meters tall and a head taller than Haoyu, confirming Haoyu's smaller build at the time 132.

Even when provoked by Ghost Shadow, Gui Wu, or Han Yu, he favors restraint and measured responses over impulsive confrontation 101 130.

He is deeply protective of the people close to him. His concern for Long Haochen drives him to guide Haochen's knight training, surrender rewards for him, and risk his life in the Undead World to secure Haochen and Haoyue's escape 98 172 162. He is similarly attentive to Cai'er, though his determination to protect her can lead him to insist on facing danger alone 261.

Beneath his composure, Haoyu possesses intense battle intent and bloodlust. His repeated combat experiences and demonic bloodline can bring out a more frightening, excited side in battle; he remains aware that losing balance between his human and demonic natures could endanger his future 87 367.
