Cai'er was raised in the Assassin Temple's Reincarnation Spirit Stove trial ground, where she spent much of her childhood attempting to fuse with the Sword of Reincarnation and the Reincarnation Spirit Stove. The isolated, oppressive training and separation from her parents shaped her cold, stubborn demeanor and left her with deep resentment toward those who failed her 262.

As a child, she fled from Wolf Demons and encountered Long Haoyu and Long Haochen in the forest. Long Haoyu's decision to protect her, even against the Assassin Temple's white-robed guardian, gave her a warmth she had not felt in a long time 8 10. Before being taken back to the temple, she gave Long Haoyu her Forget-me-not ring and asked him not to forget her 10.

Five years later, Cai'er initially failed to recognize Long Haoyu and rebuffed him with her usual coldness. He proved his identity through the Forget-me-not ring and the iron ring she had kept, prompting her to open up to him again 107 108.
