History
Conflict with Li Yuan
The You and Bai families joined forces during the Wenbing Secret Realm expedition. Two You Family elders pursued Li Yuan for his treasures, but he revealed that he was stronger than he appeared and killed them. Unable to determine how the elders died, patriarch You Ruosong suspected Li Yuan and ordered his death 264 265 267.
Li Yuan then raided the family's Orchid Fragrance Mountain outpost with four Guardians. They killed its four Great Thousand Realm elders, looted its Clever Thought Incense and production equipment, and stripped most of its Orchid Fragrance Stone mine. The losses sharply reduced both the family's fighting strength and the output of its core business 273 274.
Ruosong tried to conceal the raid, sent gifted disciples away, and liquidated affiliated businesses to preserve resources. Li Yuan instead worked with the Blood Robe Tower to spread news of the family's weakness. Other powers investigated; Xia Family head Xia Wen tested whether the You Family could fulfill a large incense order and concluded that its troubles were real 275.
Fall and Survivors
Multiple factions assaulted the You Family stronghold. Ruosong was besieged, and Li Yuan joined the attack in disguise. By its end, Ruosong was dead, the family's Great Thousand Realm fighting strength was depleted, and its remaining assets were divided among other powers. The Azure Orchid Ancient Realm thereafter counted nine great Royal Families rather than ten 276 278.
Some members had been sent away before the assault. Ruosong's son You Qi later investigated the family's fall and concluded that Li Yuan had orchestrated it. He and three other surviving You Family members obtained forbidden power from the Corpse Kun and attempted to kill Li Yuan during his breakthrough. Li Yuan defeated them; forbidden power then transformed their bodies into four runes 324 325 327.
