Xiangyi suddenly understood, but something still didn't feel right.
A siscon. A siscon.
Could it be...
"By the way, I haven't asked your name."
The man seemed to have only just realized he hadn't introduced himself. Smiling, he said, "Look at me, forgetting my manners. My name is Zhen Gao, and I'm Wanfu's vice president."
Xiangyi's expression turned a little strange. She seemed to remember a woman with the surname Zhen among the heroines.
After hesitating, Xiangyi asked, "Could your sister's name be Zhen Xian'er?"
Zhen Gao grew even more excited. "That's right! Have you seen my sister compete? She's the current rookie champion!"
Xiangyi's answer was even vaguer. "I've only heard of her. But since you're buying this for your sister, I'll give you a discount: twenty-five million, plus your villa in Heaven City." Xiangyi thought it over and decided to lower the price a little. That would also let her establish a connection ahead of time.
That way, even if she met Zhen Xian'er in the future, they'd have a good start.
"Thank you so much!"
The man excitedly shook Xiangyi's hand. She gave him a helpless smile and was just about to discuss the details when her phone suddenly rang.
Xiangyi thought Zhang Mou was calling to hurry her along to their date, but the caller ID showed Shuxuan.
"Sorry, I need to take another call." Xiangyi explained, then went somewhere quiet to answer.
As expected, Shuxuan had been bombarded by the Sales Manager, Little Grass, and had no choice but to work overtime that evening. She apologized inwardly to Xiangyi, but still nodded along as if she had no idea what was going on.
"Remember to eat properly tonight, and don't go wandering off. I'll be back soon." Shuxuan would never know that day how badly Xiangyi had set her up. She had no idea that Xiangyi had already made more money than she'd earn in her entire life.
"I know. You too, Sister Shuxuan. Come home early. I'll be so lonely by myself." Xiangyi joked with a smile, but the other end suddenly fell silent. Several seconds passed before Shuxuan spoke again.
She seemed to avoid the subject they'd just been discussing. Xiangyi thought she was simply feeling sad about parting, so she didn't dwell on it. She said goodbye to Shuxuan, hung up, and went back out.
Now she didn't have to worry about running out of time. Thinking this, Xiangyi was about to discuss the contract with the man when her phone rang again.
Xiangyi gave the man an awkward smile and instinctively went back into the room. The caller was Zhang Mou.
It was already past five, but to avoid spending too long together, Xiangyi had arranged to meet her after eight. Getting a call now made Xiangyi feel that something was off.
"What is it, madam?"
"Mm, I'm at the market. I wanted to ask what you like to eat."
Zhang Mou's unexpected move left Xiangyi completely dumbfounded. It made her feel as if they weren't going to exercise together, but on a date. Zhang Mou's seriousness put some pressure on Xiangyi, but when she thought of the eight million ways she could die after going to Heaven City, she still felt she had to sell her conscience.
"Let's have steak with red wine. We can make it romantic tonight." Xiangyi thought of the melodramatic tropes she'd seen on TV, which were probably the favorite of romance lovers in real life, too.
Still, Xiangyi was surprised that Zhang Mou would cook herself. In her mind, Zhang Mou's image as a rich lady was deeply ingrained and impossible to change.
"Okay. Come early, then. I'll be waiting for you." Zhang Mou blew a kiss into the phone. Xiangyi shivered. Even after spending time with Zhang Mou several times, she still wasn't used to that kind of enthusiasm.
Hua Nu's teasing voice began to sound in her head, too. But Xiangyi had no idea what they were doing; they had no intention of coming out of the Flower God Ring. She couldn't be bothered to deal with them. After hanging up, she soon stepped out of the small room.
She smiled apologetically at the man. He didn't come closer, as if worried that her phone might ring again.
But Xiangyi had already switched her phone to vibrate and focused on discussing the details with him.
Because of the contract, Xiangyi used her real name and personal information. More importantly, she still didn't have the funds to properly establish her Hua Linglong alias.
When Zhen Gao saw Xiangyi's identity information, he looked surprised. "You're the Discarded Daughter of the Qin Family, the one everyone's been talking about lately? What a small world!"
Only then did Xiangyi realize just how famous she was in the little city of Ocean City.
"What, are you friends with Prince Qin and want to beat me up too?" Xiangyi joked, seeing that Zhen Gao didn't seem hostile.
Zhen Gao shook his head. "Of course not. I've hated that guy for a long time. I always wondered how someone could reach nearly eighteen without awakening as a Chosen One. It makes sense if you had Emperor Gold."
Zhen Gao sighed at length. Xiangyi's lips curled into a smile. "You know how awkward my situation is right now. Please keep the sale of the Emperor Gold confidential. It'd be best if we included that in the contract."
Xiangyi was still worried that the Emperor Gold would draw too much attention. Since Zhen Gao was a heroine's older brother, seemed like a siscon, and appeared trustworthy, she felt she could try having a proper conversation with him.
"But of course. Still, wasn't the Qin family's grandmother already..." Zhen Gao had even more questions, but when he saw Xiangyi's faintly threatening smile, he decided not to ask. He called over his lawyer, and they began drafting the contract and working out the details of the property transfer.
With such a large sum involved, and the villa transfer proving more complicated than expected, the process would take a few business days. Xiangyi understood, but her cautious nature still made her worry about being cheated.
She felt she had to do something to make sure that unlikely possibility didn't happen. After thinking it over, Xiangyi decided to have a Little Grass possess the other party's lawyer.
That way, the lawyer could help resolve any issues, and she could keep an eye on Zhen Gao's actions as well.
But Xiangyi was still too inexperienced. Zhen Gao seemed to notice her unease and joked, "Don't worry. I wouldn't dare offend anyone from the Qin family. If you're really worried, I can record a video proving that we made this deal. Of course, that's because I'm a good person. With anyone else, you'd still have to be careful..." Zhen Gao paused, and something unreadable appeared on his ordinary-looking face.
Just as Xiangyi wondered if Zhen Gao was hiding something, he suddenly said the final sentence with complete seriousness.
"The existence of Emperor Gold is bound to drive the entire Chosen One community into a frenzy, so we absolutely have to keep this between us." Zhen Gao was also afraid that if the news got out, criminals might target his sister. The Zhen family was a respectable family of merchants, and they would never stoop to cheating anyone.
Xiangyi nodded in agreement. Zhen Gao went on and on about his predicament. "I'm still so heartbroken over my villa in Heaven City. Sigh, I originally bought it for my sister to live in while she was at school, but she chose to stay in the dorms instead."
Not only that, Zhen Gao enthusiastically showed Xiangyi a photo of his sister.
It was the first time Xiangyi had seen Zhen Xian'er. She'd expected a peerlessly beautiful woman, but the girl had a baby face and a petite figure. She was clearly a legal loli.
Zhen Xian'er was in her final year of high school, but as a Chosen One who'd been admitted through a special program, she'd been competing in all sorts of contests lately. She didn't need to study as hard as everyone else.
Before she knew it, Xiangyi had listened to Zhen Gao ramble on for ages. Even after the lawyer finished drafting the contract, he still seemed reluctant to part. They exchanged contact information, and he even claimed he wanted to keep in touch with Xiangyi.
Xiangyi felt even more helpless and could only ask Zhen Gao to review the contract first.
Once he got down to business, Zhen Gao became much more serious. Xiangyi looked it over. It was just as she'd expected: all her requirements were listed carefully. Without hesitation, she signed.
"Pleasure doing business with you."
"Likewise."
The contract was signed, and the villa handover would take place in a few days. Someone would contact Xiangyi about it.
As for the payment, five million would be transferred first, with the rest paid in installments each month. That was partly to manage the cash flow and partly to ensure the quality of the goods. Xiangyi readily accepted the arrangement, which gave her a little more peace of mind.
"How about getting something to eat?"
"No, I have other things to do. If there's a problem, contact me anytime. But remember, I might be the Discarded Daughter of the Qin Family now, but I'm not weak." Xiangyi gave the teacup in her hand a gentle squeeze. It warped out of shape. Though it was made of glass, it crumbled into powder.
What was more, Xiangyi's Chosen One mark hadn't released any power. This was true physical cultivation; Xiangyi had pushed the human body's strength to its limit.
Zhen Gao stared in amazement. Xiangyi tossed the powder aside and quickly left.
Little Grass still hadn't possessed anyone, but she had memorized Zhen Gao's scent. If he chose to deceive Xiangyi, she would track him to the ends of the earth and crush his bones to powder. After making sure of that, Xiangyi finally relaxed.
By the time she went outside, it was already late. Xiangyi couldn't be bothered to run, so she took a taxi to the residential community where Zhang Mou lived.
The driver looked to be in his forties. Seeing what seemed to be an ordinary young girl, he asked her a curious question. Xiangyi was quiet, still thinking about her appearance. When she got out, the driver saw the stunning beauty before him and froze.
Not only had her appearance changed; even her clothes were different. The driver wondered if his eyes were playing tricks on him.
Otherwise, how could the difference between the two be so great? The driver shuddered. He wasn't sure whether he felt dazzled or frightened, but after thinking it over, he stepped on the gas and drove away at once.
Xiangyi watched him leave, amused. She fixed her hair again, making sure her current clothes were completely different from what she'd worn before. These were another new outfit from a fashion magazine, chosen to fit the date-night theme.
Seeing that it was already past seven, Xiangyi walked over to the security booth. The guard had been looking bored, but the moment he saw Xiangyi's face, he was utterly captivated.
The air seemed to freeze. Then the guard came to his senses and hurriedly asked Xiangyi what she was there for. After she explained, he found the advance visitor registration.
For the community's security, everyone in the villa area had an appointment app installed. Residents used it to approve visitors and create temporary visitor records.
"Welcome, Miss Hua." The guard politely opened the gate for Xiangyi. This time, he even escorted her some distance before returning to his post.
The flower people still hadn't appeared along the way. Maybe they knew what awkward business was happening tonight, or maybe they were fighting with Oleander again and had no time for her.
Xiangyi called out a few times. Only Oleander answered, and even she sounded perfunctory. The other two didn't make a sound at all. With no other choice, Xiangyi pressed on and soon reached Zhang Mou's villa.
Lights glimmered inside, showing that someone was home. Xiangyi had only walked a few steps when she sensed all the cameras focusing on her.
It was a strange feeling, being watched by every camera at once. Xiangyi's senses were sharp now, and she disliked the attention, but she still braced herself and knocked.
Zhang Mou soon came to open the door.
She wore a red dress, looking even more dazzling than she had at the hotel that day. Seeing Xiangyi, Zhang Mou smiled and pulled her inside, then pressed her against the door as if she meant to start exercising right away.
Xiangyi was just about to play along when Zhang Mou merely gave her a light kiss on the corner of her mouth and said, "Wait a little longer. It'll be ready soon."
As she spoke, Zhang Mou started to leave to take care of something. Xiangyi thought the mood was already perfect. If Zhang Mou kissed her, and an ordinary flower person only needed a minute to fulfill the requirement, Xiangyi could make her escape before long and never see Zhang Mou again.
"Can't I have you now?" So Xiangyi deliberately made the atmosphere more intimate. She held Zhang Mou down and pressed her against the wall.
Zhang Mou smiled, her eyes fixed on Xiangyi with captivating allure. Even so, she didn't forget about the food she'd made. "We can, but let's eat first. And try my cooking. It's been years since I last cooked."
Zhang Mou's smile was dazzling, and she stroked Xiangyi's face. Her touch stirred Xiangyi's heart, making her feel that something was wrong with her.
Even if Zhang Mou was a beauty, a mature and alluring woman, Xiangyi shouldn't have been reacting so strongly. Could it be because this was a wrestling-story world, so she'd been forcibly turned into an exercise enthusiast?
Xiangyi didn't dare think about it. Seeing her still standing there in a daze, Zhang Mou came over and pulled her along.
Xiangyi's limbs felt stiff, but her attention was quickly drawn elsewhere. In front of her was an elaborately prepared feast.
Candlelight, red wine, and steak, just like the romantic scenes favored by romance lovers.
Zhang Mou clearly enjoyed such romantic gestures too. She pressed Xiangyi down into her seat and said, "I never expected us both to like steak. I thought a young girl like you would prefer something livelier."
The description amused Xiangyi, and some of the stiffness left her body. She sat down and wiped her hands with the prepared wet wipes before asking, "What do you mean by something livelier?"
"Things like hot pot, for example. Like my adopted daughter."
"Mm? You don't like her?"
"She's the child of a mistress. What normal person could accept an outsider taking a share of their property?" Zhang Mou said calmly, but Xiangyi felt she wasn't as bad a person as she seemed.
She simply had to be bad. If she wasn't, everything she'd built would be taken from her.
"Stop looking at me like that. It's not as if I'll eat you."
"But you're as delicious as seafood, madam." Xiangyi smiled as she spoke those shamelessly flirtatious words, slipping into her harem-harvester routine.
Of course, teasing someone only worked if there was mutual attraction. Otherwise, she'd just be called vulgar.
"Don't talk nonsense. Tonight, I just want to spend the evening with you. Of course, if you don't want to, nothing has to happen." Zhang Mou gave her a faint smile, showing off her charm as a beauty and hoping to captivate Xiangyi.
Zhang Mou was indeed charming. Her outfit was comfortable and homely, yet it showed off all her best features. A faint scent lingered in the air, mingling with the fragrance of her body.
Red wine, steak, their eyes meeting—something like an electric current seemed to stir in the air. Xiangyi suddenly felt warm. She'd done plenty of unscrupulous things before, but being with Zhang Mou felt completely different from being with Muning.
Zhang Mou was passionate, mature, and experienced. She knew exactly how to draw someone's attention. At that moment, the concept of gender seemed to blur, leaving only beauty on display. Xiangyi watched her slowly and gracefully cut a piece of steak, bring it gently to her lips, then open her mouth and eat it.
At that moment, Xiangyi thought of her first kiss with Zhang Mou. Her lipstick had gotten in the way, so she hadn't really been able to savor it. Now Zhang Mou wore nothing on her lips, as if she wanted to show Xiangyi her true self.
Their conversation grew more and more suggestive. The steak was supposed to be the main course, but it became an afterthought. By the time it was finished, Xiangyi couldn't even remember how it had tasted.
The intimate atmosphere lingered, but Zhang Mou seemed to enjoy it. She didn't rush to interact more closely with Xiangyi. Instead, she began clearing the table and soaking the dishes, revealing her domestic side.
Xiangyi sat there watching while Zhang Mou chatted about things that had made her happy or sad. Xiangyi began to relax and let down her guard. Zhang Mou continued her tactics, guiding Xiangyi to sit down as if she intended to massage her shoulders.
Xiangyi felt something was wrong. Zhang Mou was far too good at this—much more compelling than the wrestling novels Xiangyi had read. What was more, she was using Xiangyi's five senses to wear down her nerves.
"Madam, can I ask you something?" Xiangyi was starting to have trouble holding out, but she steeled herself and asked.
"Go ahead."
Xiangyi swallowed. "Aside from your late husband, how many people have you...?"
The hand that had been massaging her paused, then gently pressed at her neck. Zhang Mou didn't get angry.
Xiangyi frowned slightly, thinking Zhang Mou was far too good at flirting. Until just now, her feelings toward Zhang Mou had been somewhere between good and bad. After all those moves, she realized she was in serious trouble.
Zhang Mou seemed a little displeased, but she still told Xiangyi about her romantic history.
"You're the first person I've been with in all these years."
Xiangyi didn't believe her. She thought this world must have added some other wicked setting to suit its wrestling theme. Knowing Zhang Mou liked straightforward people, Xiangyi pressed on. "But... why are you so experienced? I mean... you really are incredibly alluring. Even I, another woman, can hardly resist you."
