Background / History

Huang Lu was the second daughter of Magic City's century-old Huang family. As a child, she was abducted by a competitor of the Huang family and eventually arrived at an orphanage in Port City, where she met Xu Yi. The two depended on one another for more than a decade; Xu Yi protected her from other children and rescued her from an orphanage fire when she was sixteen, leaving a permanent scar on his wrist. Huang Lu was then found by her birth family and taken back to Magic City. Before their separation, she broke her jade pendant in half and gave one piece to Xu Yi. Though not blood-related, they regarded one another as family. 38 45

After returning to Magic City, Huang Lu repeatedly searched the Southwest District for Xu Yi. She sought to buy an undeveloped plot there not for profit, but because it was where they had been separated and she believed he would someday return. 38

During the Furun Group crisis, Xu Yi produced his half of the jade pendant and showed the scar from the fire. Huang Lu matched it with her own half, recognized him as her lost brother, and immediately turned her influence against Ji Bowen, Gu Feng, and Shen Shi, who had threatened him and Li Wen.
