Background / History

Du Rufeng is a young master from Magic City and Huang Lu's cousin. He founded and leads Yingbu Entertainment, a company with a strong public reputation and numerous internet celebrities, though its access to the industry's best resources is limited 105 115.

Two years before the events of the later extra, Du Rufeng became sworn brothers with Huang Mao. Huang Mao reportedly cleared Du Rufeng's debts, helped him earn more than one billion yuan, and promised him half his fortune and leadership of the Huang family in return for acting as an inside informant during a planned annexation of the family 248. Du Rufeng ultimately turns against Huang Mao, claiming that Huang Mao's conduct toward him was inappropriate rather than brotherly 248.

Du Rufeng personally visits Yixing Entertainment after Li Zi's confrontation with Xu Yi. He offers ten million yuan as an apology, but his actual purpose is to discuss acquiring talent from Xu Yi's company 102.

After Xu Yi rejects the proposed cooperation, Du Rufeng supplies another ten million yuan and makes clear that he wants Infinite Youth. Xu Yi refuses to surrender the group and criticizes Yingbu Entertainment's practice of packaging artists for profit 104.

Du Rufeng and Li Zi later meet the members of Infinite Youth privately at Cuiyun Xuan. Du Rufeng offers them better resources and fame, but Xu Yi intervenes before he can complete the poaching attempt 105. Huang Lu and Su Xin arrive during Du Rufeng's confrontation with Xu Yi. Huang Lu treats his threats against Xu Yi as threats against her own family, while Su Xin chooses to support Xu Yi despite the losses that ending cooperation with Yingbu Entertainment could cause 106 107.

When Su Xin announces that she intends to leave Huarun Entertainment to Xu Yi, Du Rufeng loses his composure and accuses Xu Yi of using supernatural means to turn others against him 108.
