Two nimble figures leaped from a dead tree in the park onto a school's perimeter wall, then used the wall to vault down with ease.
The schoolyard was in disarray. The ground was covered in dried bloodstains and scabs of flesh stuck to the pavement. There were far more zombies here than on the streets, but they'd all been kept inside by the school's sturdy security gates, designed to prevent shootings.
They hadn't spread outside.
So, as a rule, this was off-limits to ordinary survivors.
Outside the school's convenience store, a female zombie in a school uniform, with a few pale bones already showing on her face, twitched from time to time.
Then, in the next instant, a shovel smacked into her head, splattering slime.
As the zombie was about to fall, Jack also blocked her with his leg, muffling the sound of her collapse.
For Tao Yu and Jack, both highly capable, getting into the school while avoiding the zombies wasn't difficult. They already understood the zombies' habits, and the two had easily fallen into sync.
To travel light and keep noise to a minimum, Tao Yu hadn't even put on his helmet. Jack had stripped down his gear as much as possible, too.
They moved without making a sound.
Seven months had passed. The supermarket was somewhat messy, but its shelves were still packed with goods, though some items had spilled onto the floor.
It was clear no one had ever visited the place.
Aside from the few zombies already cleared near the entrance, there were about seven or eight more inside the supermarket.
"Be careful not to let them knock over the shelves. Otherwise, we'll have to run before we're ready."
Jack, holding a shovel, lowered his voice to warn him.
Tao Yu only nodded, without a
