Amamiya Natsuki got up and headed for the bathroom.
Mrs. Kaguya followed.
A full-length mirror hung on the wall. Amamiya Natsuki stood in front of it, his whole body clearly reflected in the glass.
The sight beside him was downright terrifying... just a phone floating in midair.
"Just like an urban legend, Youjing can't look in a mirror?" Mrs. Kaguya was quite clever. "So the reason I can't video-call Little Kaguya is me, not a broken phone?"
"That should be it." Amamiya Natsuki took out his phone. "Come over and let's take a picture together."
Mrs. Kaguya came closer, raised her right hand, and made a V sign beside her face.
Click.
After taking the picture,
Amamiya Natsuki checked it and quickly said, "No good. It didn't capture you. Video calls won't work."
"That's so awful. So that's the truth." Mrs. Kaguya was deeply disappointed. "Wait, can Little Kaguya hear me when I talk?"
"You're still on a video call."
Amamiya Natsuki looked at the phone. Ice Sculpture Young Lady had her right hand pressed to her chest, her face expressionless, but the tips of her ears were clearly red as fire.
"Kaguya-classmate." Amamiya Natsuki cleared his throat twice. "Can you hear your mother?"
Shinomiya Kaguya replied coolly and calmly, "No. I can't hear anything."
"That's the situation. Video calls are out." Amamiya Natsuki handed the phone back to Mrs. Kaguya and turned to leave. "Just message each other directly."
Amamiya Natsuki had absolutely no interest in eavesdropping on a mother-daughter heart-to-heart at night.
Back in his room, he studied. He had another day of exams tomorrow.
In the blink of an eye, it was eleven at night.
Amamiya Natsuki closed his workbook and was about to go to sleep when his pinky suddenly twitched.
Then it kept moving nonstop.
