Amamiya Natsuki and Kaguya stepped out of the taxi. Frowning at his phone, Natsuki said,
"Five minutes have already passed."
While they were in the taxi, Amamiya Natsuki had messaged Chika. At first, Chika had replied, but five minutes ago she had suddenly gone silent. Even when Natsuki twitched the red string with his pinky, there was still no response.
Shinomiya Kaguya bit her lip.
"Let's check Chika's room first and see if there are any clues."
"Okay."
It was already ten at night, the middle of the night—not an appropriate time for a formal visit, of course. Amamiya Natsuki and Kaguya went around to the back of the yard, planning to sneak in through a window.
"The window should be locked..." Amamiya Natsuki looked up. "Sister Aya, can you open it?"
"Leave it to me."
Mrs. Kaguya answered and went straight into the room.
Before long, the curtains and window were pulled open together.
Amamiya Natsuki crouched slightly, then suddenly sprang upward and leaped to the second floor, climbing through the window. He immediately took out a grappling hook, tossed it down to the Young Lady, and pulled Kaguya up.
"Chika isn't in her room." Shinomiya Kaguya looked around. The walls were bare, aside from a few posters; there was no red wooden door. "Moeha's room is next door. Let's check there."
Amamiya Natsuki looked grave. He had Mrs. Kaguya scout ahead, and once they were sure they wouldn't run into Chika's parents, the two of them stepped into the hallway and entered Moeha's room.
"There's no one here either."
Amamiya Natsuki entered and looked around. He saw no eerie red wooden door in the room.
"I'll check the other rooms."
Mrs. Kaguya took on the task of searching and floated out.
