Background / History

Houyi served among the Houtu Tribe warriors patrolling the forests around Buzhou Mountain. While leading a group with Kuafu, he encountered Lin Xuan after the human cultivator had been grievously wounded fighting the Fierce Beast Zhen. Houyi assessed Lin Xuan, noted his courage despite his weak Blood Essence, and ordered Kuafu to bring him back to the settlement for treatment. 7 9

After Lin Xuan recovered, Houyi personally questioned him about his origins and his body-tempering practice. Though initially scrutinizing Lin Xuan's account, Houyi accepted it and allowed him to remain in the tribe. He respected Lin Xuan's courage and arranged for Kuafu and the other warriors to train him in Witch Tribe body-tempering methods. 10

Lin Xuan's cooking and later his discourse on the mechanics of strength changed Houyi's view of him from a capable outsider to a valued friend and teacher.
