Background / History

Wang Yanran was the heiress of Wang Manor and a childhood cultivator of the Pure Yang Five Swords Technique. The technique's pure yang energy enabled her to survive, but its effects caused her to become severely overweight through an imbalance of yin and yang. Before the events in Pure Yang City, Zhang Junyi—Yi Xiaofeng's identity in the scenario—saved her from bandits, earning her intense admiration and affection. 4 13

Her body also concealed Demonic Blood. The Spiritual Vein beneath Pure Yang City, her Pure Yang cultivation, and the Pure Yang Pills were all connected to efforts to keep her alive and allow the bloodline to awaken safely. The murders surrounding the City Lord's Mansion were partly arranged to conceal or misdirect attention from her condition. 19 21

When the Black-Clothed Man ambushed Yi Xiaofeng, Wang Yanran pushed him away from an incoming dart and was injured protecting him. After Yi Xiaofeng was poisoned and left near death, she persuaded him to agree to marry her, then transferred her pure yang energy and cultivation to him. 11 12 13

The transfer restored Wang Yanran's appearance into that of an exceptionally beautiful young woman resembling her mother, but left her without cultivation. She nevertheless remained committed to Yi Xiaofeng and chose to cultivate from the beginning again. 14 15

After learning that her Demonic Blood made her a target, Wang Yanran escaped Pure Yang City with Yi Xiaofeng. City Lord Tang—her uncle—attempted to kill her, citing her identity as Wei Qixin's daughter. Wang Yanran took Tang Yiqian hostage to force a retreat, then jumped from a cliff with Yi Xiaofeng and Tang Yiqian to evade pursuit. 21 24 25
