Background / History

Su Haoran was an ordinary person from another world before an accident caused him to transmigrate into a young refugee sharing his name. Prajna Temple took him in as a low-ranking Sweeping Monk Disciple, where hunger and poor provisions initially limited his cultivation. 2

His early potential was noticed by Cao Yi after he independently entered the Meditation Scripture’s Unity of Mind and Spirit state. Cao Yi gave him extra steamed buns and later permitted him to take rent-collection work, allowing Su Haoran to seek the food and money needed for training. 3 4

During his first trip down the mountain, Su Haoran refused to abandon Prajna Temple’s rent money when three refugees attacked him. He killed the attackers, discovered Blood Ginseng on one of their bodies, and returned with every coin intact despite Li Gui’s false accusation that he had fled. 4 5 6

After Li Gui was expelled, Su Haoran moved into an isolated woodshed to cultivate in secret. Li Gui later returned with Scarface and One-Eyed Dragon to murder him; Su Haoran killed all three and obtained the Iron Cloth Shirt manual from Li Gui’s body. 6 8 9

Su Haoran’s defeat of Great Western Army mutineers and rescue of a peasant couple led their son, Martial Monk Zeng Qiu, to recognize him as a sworn brother. His subsequent victory over Zeng Qiu and success in the Martial Monk assessment earned him formal disciple status. 11 13 20

Appearance

Su Haoran initially wore the faded gray robes of a Sweeping Monk Disciple. After becoming a Martial Monk, he received fitted black robes and a token, giving him a sharper and more capable bearing. 2 21
