Background
Arhat Fist is one of the two basic techniques taught to Prajna Temple disciples regardless of status, alongside the internal Meditation Scripture. It is an external martial art distinguished by fierce, broad, sweeping movements and serves as the foundation for many of the temple’s more profound techniques. 2
Though considered easy to begin, its Minor Accomplishment stage requires unified fist force and fluid motions; ordinary practitioners may need two or three years of hard training to reach it. Its routine includes sixty-two forms, beginning with Child Monk Salutes Buddha. 3 4
Abilities & Skills
Foundational Forms and Force Generation
Arhat Fist channels power through coordinated stance, waist rotation, Blood Essence, and full-body motion rather than isolated arm strength.
- Child Monk Salutes Buddha — a foundational strike that can generate enough fist wind to stir pages and flicker candlelight. 4
- Arhat Bell Strike — uses the shoulder as a hammer and the body as a bell in a close-range charge. 5
- Arhat Carries Mountain — a low, stable stance used to anchor the body and launch precise counterstrikes. 8
- Wrathful Vajra — the technique’s final move; concentrates power into a decisive punch. 7 8
- Arhat Subdues the Tiger — a rapid closing maneuver followed by a full-force elbow strike. 17
- At Major Accomplishment, its footwork, offense, defense, and power generation can be applied seamlessly in combat. 11 13
Physical Enhancement
Cultivating the technique strengthens the user’s body and increases the demand for food and Blood Essence.
- Minor Accomplishment improved Su Haoran’s physique and caused a major increase in appetite. 3 4
- Blood Ginseng allowed its circulating energy to temper Su Haoran’s flesh, skin, and bones while he trained. 7
- Major Accomplishment enabled Su Haoran to split a two-person-wide locust tree with a bare-handed strike. 7
- Its perfected state gave Su Haoran enough skin and muscle toughness to clash with a military saber, suffering only a shallow wound. 8
Combat Applications
The style favors overwhelming direct force but can be adapted for precise counters and close-quarters fighting.
- Su Haoran used Minor Accomplishment Arhat Fist to defeat three robbers while aided by the composure and perception of the Meditation Scripture. 5
- In his spar with Zeng Qiu, he combined fists, palms, elbows, and knees into a relentless offense that overwhelmed Taming Tiger Fist. 13
- Against two masked bandits, he used its sustained power and endurance to fight a Second Skin Tempering martial artist at close range. 17
- Its principles can be transferred to weapons: Su Haoran turned fist intent into saber momentum, using Black Tiger Steals the Heart through a Military Saber. 17
Cultivation Synergy
Arhat Fist works especially well with techniques and resources that stabilize the mind, supply Blood Essence, or reinforce the body.
- Meditation Scripture — improves focus, composure, and perception, allowing the user to execute the fist forms with greater precision. 3 5
- Blood Ginseng — rapidly advanced the technique from Minor Accomplishment 1% to 4% overnight and fueled its later breakthrough to Major Accomplishment. 6 7
- Iron Cloth Shirt — at the Perfection breakthrough, its defensive tempering method and Arhat Fist’s Blood Essence guidance formed a complementary balance. 27
