Appearance

The Hero King is a golden-armored king whose imposing presence and contemptuous gaze immediately distinguish him from the other Servants. He is associated with a luxurious golden flying vessel and an immense treasury of Noble Phantasms. 19 27

Personality

The Hero King is intensely proud, arrogant, and dismissive of other kings, habitually calling opponents “mongrels” and treating challenges to his status as personal insults. He considers his antiquity and treasures proof of an unbridgeable superiority. 19 28 34

Despite this conceit, he recognizes exceptional strength. After his battle with Xia, he considers the fight exhilarating, acknowledges Xia’s capability, and proposes a serious rematch. 35 He also appreciates luxury and fine wine, visibly enjoying the provisions Xia produces for the King’s Banquet. 28

Story Role / Major Arcs

Arrival and First Clash

The Hero King appears during the gathering of Saber, Lancer, Iskandar, and Xia, immediately dismissing the assembled kings as inferior. Xia recognizes him as the King of Heroes and reacts with particular hostility over his treatment of Artoria. 19

Xia sends him flying into a lake with a punch, prompting the Hero King to unleash Gates of Babylon. Xia’s Dragon Crest Golden Spear destroys the initial barrage, while Saber intervenes against the second wave. 20

King’s Banquet

The Hero King attends the banquet of four kings alongside Xia, Artoria, and Iskandar. He disparages Xia as an unworthy “Eternal King,” then accepts Xia’s transformed royal setting and fine wine. 27 28

He competes directly with Xia by manifesting treasures through Gates of Babylon while Xia responds with Imaginary Sphere. 28

Eternal Throne Conflict

When Xia traps the Servants within Eternal Throne, the Hero King becomes stranded alongside Iskandar. Though he finds the situation unpleasant, he protects the Conqueror King when the latter is threatened by Xia’s black-armored knights. 32

ZERO Countdown

During the final conflict, the Hero King battles Xia in the sky and initially mocks him from the safety of his golden ship. Xia bypasses his defenses and wounds him at close range. 34

The Hero King escalates to Ea, but Xia destroys its attack, breaks through multiple defensive treasures and an ancient shield, and strikes him down with Lightning Spear. The Hero King accepts the result with satisfaction, declaring the battle worthy of a future rematch. 35
