Xu Yi returned to Great Yue, now Great Song, and confronted the damage done by his legacy before withdrawing to his old home to seek clarity. After a girl helped him understand karma, he advanced through the Ninth Tribulation of Lightning, defeated seven attackers, and suspected Demon Lord Han had arranged the ambush.

• Xu Yi returned to Great Yue and rescued Yuan Qinghua from an attack at the Yuan family’s birthday celebration, then fought the Canggu Evil Dragon while Yuan Jingxu’s plot came to light.
• Xu Yi killed Yuan Jingxu, grieved Yuan Qinghua’s corruption and death, and left Great Song after briefly helping Jia Junpeng and entrusting Yuan Jingyan with its administration.
• Xu Yi returned to Xu Family Village, where Zhou Shixian sought atonement for his family’s betrayal, and Yingying challenged Xu Yi’s belief in karma and fate.
• Xu Yi realized that conscience, not karmic retribution, distinguished good from evil, restored his golden corpse, and prepared on a deserted island to face the Ninety-Nine Heavenly Tribulations.
• Seven demon cultivators ambushed Xu Yi during his refinement, but Huang Mei held them off until Xu Yi completed their master-servant bond and entered the lightning tribulation.

Xu Yi pursued the Barren Frontier’s secrets, helped Ning Wuque and his companions ascend, and returned to the Ancestral Court as Han Qi tried to frame him. The arc ended with Xu Yi presenting Song Yuan’s warning and evidence against Han Qi.

• Xu Yi’s corpse absorbed two Fire Element Seeds but rejected the others, while Zhang Fang told him the Barren Frontier was where cultivators went after reaching their limits.
• Demon Lord Xie stopped Han Qi and Zhang Fang from attacking Xu Yi, and Xu Yi later defeated Zhang Fang and learned the God-Beating Whip’s cultivation method.
• Xu Yi discovered that Ning Wuque’s scales appeared and vanished with the time of day, then took him and his companions away to evade a search party.
• Xu Yi and his companions fought the searchers, and Xu Yi killed Brother Li while Ning Wuque, Xiong Bei Ming, and Gold Corpse Old Cao captured Brother Zhang.

Xu Yi survived a plot in the Eastern Continent, confronted Ka Shentong over Lian Yunshang, and escaped into the Barren Frontier. There he seized control of a group of cultivators and began weighing the benefits of founding a sect and entering the Two Mansions.

• Xu Yi exposed Xuan Zhuang’s scheme to steal the Fortune Dragon, killed Liu Jingtian when he attacked, and forced White Horse Temple and Lesser Vehicle Mountain to negotiate.
• Xu Yi searched for Lian Yunshang and arranged a performance of Asking After Love, but Ka Shentong warned him that restoring Xia Zimo’s memories could kill her.
• Ka Shentong trapped Xu Yi in his sleeve, but Xu Yi escaped to the Barren Frontier through the Four-Colored Seal, while Ka Shentong told Xuanzang about Xu Yi and the Fortune Dragon.
• Xu Yi joined Zhang Fang’s group to search for Immortal Spirit Grass, then captured Guo Rui and held off Fang Zongdao when the Hundred Kings Sect arrived.
• Xu Yi questioned Guo Rui and the other captives about the Barren Frontier, its resources, and the ranks beyond Earth Immortal, then asked them to advise him on his future.
• Li Zhao proposed that Xu Yi establish a sect and seek entry into the Two Mansions, while Guo Rui explained the costs and benefits and Li Zhao suggested trading a Green Crystal Core for a Senior Official position.

Xu Yi gathered Immortal Spirit Grass and crystal cores, returned to Chang'an, and pursued Lian Yunshang's disappearance and Li Zhao's killers. After killing Chen Black Order and clashing with the Ten Golden Orders, he learned a passage to the Immortal Realm would soon open and set out for the Void Hall.

• Xu Yi used Guo Rui and the crystal beast’s ashes to draw the Hundred Kings Sect into a deadly clash, then defeated the sect and collected Immortal Spirit Grass and crystal cores.
• Xu Yi killed Old Demon Chixia, refined a stalk of Immortal Spirit Grass, and gained a trace of Immortal Spirit Power.
• Su Jiewu and Lu Wuji opened the Void Gate, where crystal cores and beasts emerged, and learned that a disturbance had affected the passage to the upper realm.
